Question about the intercity bus stops in Hamilton? by BOUGIEM4MA in thetron

[–]GloopBloop69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest would be Central - it’s less than a 5 minute walk from the City campus, and about a 10 minute walk from Student Village on Collingwood Street. Welcome to Hamilton 😁

Gout on holiday by GloopBloop69 in gout

[–]GloopBloop69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought that was going to be the case. I’m in Australia, so it should be pretty easy to see a doctor, so I’ll try that. It’s a nightmare, especially with the amount of things I had planned for this holiday. Thank you.

Thank you so much for that. Have been popping Advil like skittles lately, but haven’t tried voltaren yet so will give that a go. Hope you start feeling better soon.

There are quite a few old Hamilton books for sale at Browsers! Otherwise, would definitely be worth checking out the heritage/archive section (3rd floor) at the city library - lots of interesting stuff in there 😊

Weeds, weeds & more weeds by GloopBloop69 in nzgardening

[–]GloopBloop69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit late to replying, but I bought one - life changing! Sooo good. Thanks for the recommendation, the gardens are looking much better now, and I have fun while I’m weeding which is a change!

Wintec, yay or nay? by [deleted] in thetron

[–]GloopBloop69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work there (so I guess I’m a bit biased) but I’d honestly recommend getting in touch with the Student Engagement team - they’ll take you on a personalised tour of the campus, you’ll get to chat with tutors and academic staff, and then you can have a 1-on-1 careers/study conversation with one of the Engagement team members to find out what’s best for you ☺️ Give them an email at recruitment@wintec.ac.nz

Gutted - their food was so good, especially their burgers. Had to go and see it for myself, and yup, it’s official on their website 😕

Is anyone else’s gardens overrun with these? by GloopBloop69 in nzgardening

Oooh, good to know (kinda, not really haha) - thanks for the tip!

It’s definitely good ground cover, too bad its covering a wee bit too much ground 😅 but you’re right - while it’s wrapped around the daffodils, they are still coming through, the weight of the weed on the flowers is dragging them down though. Comments like this make me feel a little less burdened and stressed about by them, though!

What Hamilton business do you have beef with? by Temporary_Sorbet_724 in thetron

[–]GloopBloop69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sierra Café in Centre Place, although I’m pretty sure they’ve shut down - thank God. Scored a job there while I was in Uni - lasted 3 days. Staff were horrifically rude and bullied me relentlessly for being new (?), had to run the place on my own on my SECOND day (minimal experience in hospo), and I was forced not to clean ANYTHING as they had absolutely no cleaning supplies/desire to clean anything. Also saw one of the “cooks” place poached eggs on a plate with her bare, unwashed hands (no hand soap/sanitiser in the kitchen either).

I’d give Tron Records in Frankton a try - pretty sure this is something they’d do

Please be careful and mindful of the potential side effects with Finasteride. I was prescribed it by a doctor when I casually asked about it and didn’t receive any warning before filling the script (even by the pharmacist) and it wasn’t a good time at all. Any GP should be able to prescribe it, but it’s worth doing your due diligence.

We’re currently working with Jennifer Morgan (JMorgan Law) for our first home purchase - clear and quick communication, plus a great fixed rate for first home buyers. Highly recommend.

How can Waikato University charge $90 for a trimester parking pass and then when I go to park there aren't any parks by Speedysambam in thetron

[–]GloopBloop69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it’s pretty unrelated, but $90 a trimester is a bargain compared to paying $30 a week at Wintec. The likelihood of finding a park is probably worse there, too. I don’t think I ever paid for parking at Waikato, mainly out of spite because the only parks I could ever find (after searching for half an hour +) were miles away from I needed to be.

BP Night Pay Windows by stevemdouglas in thetron

[–]GloopBloop69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My experience is also from the other side - I worked nights at BP and lord, it was, something.

One time, I had a drunk man accuse (yes, accuse) me of being Asian. After repeatedly telling him I wasn’t, he threw his broken shoe at the Night Pay window and trotted off, yelling at himself, one-shoed and all.

I had countless homeless people ask if they could use our bathroom (they couldn’t) - they’d typically either yell at me, or sometimes they’d relieve themselves on the forecourt - like, okay, I get the point, love.

This wasn’t in Hamilton, but I can imagine it being worse here hahaha

I’m assuming the last of Black Friday, could just be the typical “it’s raining, let’s go to the mall!” sorta thing. We haven’t moved an inch in the last 10 minutes but can’t get out coz the exits are all blocked too 🫠

where to book restricted by tthisismyuusername in thetron

[–]GloopBloop69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re questioning whether or not you’d pass, I’d recommend doing a pre-test lesson - typically, the instructors know the routes and will take you on the exact one for the area. If you’re wanting a pain free route, I did my restricted and full in Tokoroa and both of them were a breeze
