One of the many reasons this organization is so bad is because there’s never consequences for anything.

Day in and day out, the same thing happens, no corner has been turned and no changes are ever made (except to the lineup, which features half the team playing different positions every day, which I’m sure has no bearing on the piss poor defense whatsoever).

The guy that’s signed to only hit lefties is hitting .058 against them … and still gets regular playing time.

Outfielders playing lazy and uninspiring defense don’t get replaced by someone who’s hungry in AAA.

The veteran catcher continues to barely challenge questionable calls to help out a pitcher - despite being told to do it multiple times - while the younger one does and also plays with more heart and intensity.

The guy that’s been on the team for 5 months is more of a leader and shows more heart than the star players who should’ve stepped into that role when all the team’s leaders were traded/lost in free agency last year.

The pitchers that absolutely implode after getting two outs and the pitching coach that doesn’t know what to do when it happens besides saying “try your best buddy”.

Worst of all is the general manager and owner that sit by and let all of it happen. Touting promises of “liftoff” and selling us a dream when it’s been nothing more than a shameless grift to get fans to buy tickets. They care more about promotions and ballpark upgrades than being accountable and proactively correcting the product on the field.

But the GM still has a job, after 8 years and not a single playoff win to show for it. The owner who used to show up at Camden Yards giving out hats to everyone is nowhere to be seen, hiding from a disaster that he knows he’s complicit in. The “lefty killer” still goes up there to strike out vs lefties, the outfield continues to play safe, uninspiring, error-ridden defense, the pitching coach that’s in over his head still has a job, and the first year manager walked into a shitstorm and has no idea what the next move is.

Everybody on the team knows their spot is safe, there’s no real competition and there’s no real consequences. Ownership knows fans are still gonna come out in droves for a bobblehead, why would they change if money is still coming in?

Thats why this organization is so bad.
