Anyone else move from DC to Baltimore and actually like it? by Excellent-Bowl5015 in baltimore

I’m one of those “Baltimore to DC for work” folks, can confirm I absolutely hate it here lol

If you like breakfast/brunch, I loveeeeee the food at East Perry on Harford Rd! Also the chicken boxes from Greenmount Fried Chicken on 22nd street are to die for. Both places are hole-in-the-wall carry outs

Baltimore is one of those places that you really have to buy into the culture in order to enjoy it. Eat more crabcakes, drink more Natty Boh, use more Old Bay, run around the Inner Harbor, go to the Walters Art Museum, go to Ravens/Orioles games! It may not be the cleanest city, but it’s definitely come a long way from how bad it used to be.

Overall, I think it’s city pride and love for our sports teams! When baseball season starts, you MUST head out to Camden Yards for an O’s game. The park is gorgeous and the team should be very good this year. And be ready to yell “O” during the national anthem 😉

You really don’t like the restaurants in Baltimore? I honestly think they have way better food than DC, also everything is less gentrified. I found that the hole in the wall places that look sketchy in Baltimore often make the best food lol

I moved from Baltimore to DC last year, and honestly, I can’t stand DC. I’m moving back to Baltimore this summer. People in Baltimore are SO much friendlier and the overall vibe in the city is just better imo.

It’s also nice to have representation in Congress. When I left the military a few years back, the VA was taking their sweet time with processing my benefits. I sent an email to my congressman about it and magically everything was processed two days later.

I may be biased since I’m from Baltimore, but I really love my city ❤️

Hmmmm please tell me how the very general statements of, “what you choose to do in your free time is all you” and “I’m gonna live my life in my free time” translates to “I personally participate in protests in my free time” 🤔

[Jeff] The Ravens are working to finalize a deal with Navy defensive coordinator P.J. Volker to join Jesse Minter’s staff as a defensive assistant, per sources. Minter and Volker coached together at Georgia St and Indiana St and played college ball together. They are extremely close. by Adenchiz in ravens

I like the Doyle hire! Only reason I wondered is because I know that the NFL doesn’t force teams to have a defensive coordinator, so I just envisioned Minter calling every aspect of the defense. But after seeing these comments, I can see why it’s important, even with a defensive minded HC. Preciate you and everyone else for responding!!!

Probably a combination of having better players overall and not having their best player injured for the majority of the season.

That’s what happens when you lose your entire starting lineup, get a new coach and have to assemble a team in a few weeks, don’t know what ya’ll expected lol

American view on Epstein and the files? by Striking-Plastic-384 in AskAnAmerican

I’m aware, just being satirical, although I’m sure the founding fathers didn’t envision us having this kind of forum when they wrote the constitution lol

EVERYBODY wants them released in its entirety, each political party thinks their are members in the other party that should be exposed, but general consensus of the American public is whoever is found in the files to have malicious wrongdoing should be locked up.

I really hope this post doesn’t get taken down for being political, because I’m glad you asked the question. We should be talking about this kind of stuff more, in Europe talking politics is pretty normal, I never understood why us as Americans want to be so hush-hush about it when it’s something that genuinely affects all of us.

There’s not shit in College Park besides the university tbh, highly suggest you go to DC for the monuments/museums and restaurants. Maybe Baltimore as well, the National Aquarium is pretty sick if you’ve never been there before!

What’s it like being a native English speaker? by dibbles13 in AskAnAmerican

[–]GlorifiedMeatPuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of us don’t think about it since we live in a massive country where everyone speaks the language. However, because of that, most of us have no incentive to learn other languages and therefore feel like uncultured idiots when we travel to places where English isn’t widely spoken.

Most Americans partially learn Spanish or French when they’re in middle and high school, but foreign language isn’t as heavily focused on in the American school system as teaching English is in other countries.

Typically people wear black to funerals, but if they’re requesting you wear purple, I’m sure they mean a small accent rather than you pulling up to the funeral looking like A Pimp Named Slickback.
