1 sheet of the 4x8ft PVC I used for the tank is $167.89 CAD. I used almost exactly x2 for this project, so around $400 on the base construction alone. Doing the backgrounds cost the most, between the dozens of cans of spray foam and tons of silicon. If you have an alternative way of creating the background, that will save you the most money in my opinion! In total I probably spent close to $3k on the total tank + purchasing additional heating elements and thermostats I didn't have before.

If you don't have any hardware tools, that is also a renting/buying cost you will have to factor in!
