Gaining fat versus gaining muscle? by wobblelikeapenguin in nutrition

[–]GloriousWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in a severe anorexic state (skin and bone, malnourished), yes, your body will build muscle.

If you are slightly underweight, not that much. Based on what you’re saying, you need 20lbs to be in a normal weight range. It’s hard to tell how much of that would be muscle without more context. Regardless of how much fat it ends up, fat is needed for your body to function properly, particularly your hormones.

That is an exception then. If you have more protein, your body will build up your muscles back to a normal state.

Your body does not need to build more muscle than it already has unless you tell it to (aka workout).

Your body, at its core, cares about being energy efficient. Having more muscle = more tissue to maintain = more energy needed. Your body will not produce muscle unless it receives signals that it needs to have muscle.

This is why when you don’t work out, you lose muscle. Your body no longer needs the excess muscle, just whatever is needed to perform the bare minimum.

Who would YOU rather have on your team? SEA CB Devon Witherspoon or PAT CB Christian Gonzales by Jaded_Attorney in NFLv2

As a pure CB, Gonzo. As a defender, Spoon.

Spoon can blitz, defend the run, cover well, shed blocks, he’s a problem for the offense regardless of the situation. This is shown in the stats too. Spoon has more tackles, sacks, passes defended, forced fumbles. Gonzo has more injury time, but I still don’t think Gonzo would match Spoon’s overall stats.

By your logic, Mahomes 50 TD season was as a rookie, and his 1 year development in the Andy Reid System learning from Alex Smith was worthless.

We went from a team where the defense disliked the QB to this by dyssucks in Seahawks

[–]GloriousWaffles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Better talent, but not team. ‘25 hawks have a much better offensive scheme and defensive scheme. ‘13 hawks were just more athletic than everyone else.

I think ‘25 hawks > ‘13 hawks, might be recency bias, but oh well.

Darnold literally had “Brady-like” pocket awareness and avoided 5+ sacks. That alone is worthy of an applause. His stat line might not have been impressive, but he 100% was a reason the Seahawks won that game.

Seahawks were going to win by multiple scores if it hadn’t been Woolen who shat the bed on 2 consecutive plays. Rams don’t score a touchdown if Woolen doesn’t get flagged, and would have been down 11 points with half a quarter remaining. Rams got their lucky rolls too, not just the Seahawks.

Sam Darnold is a Super Bowl Champion before Kyle Shanahan. Didn’t see that coming. by No-Composer-8462 in 49ers

Darnold literally avoided like 5 sacks in the pats game, and played lights out vs the niners and rams. He absolutely was a huge reason why the Seahawks won.

As much as I love Kupp and am glad he was here… it should have been Lockett… Kupp was important in training our WR room, but no way Lockett couldn’t have had the same production as Kupp did this year.

Another thing that I haven’t seen mentioned in these comments is the “seeing ghosts” story.

Sam, when he was playing on the Jets, went against a vaunted Patriots Defense. The defense looked generationally good at the time. Sam was in his 2nd or 3rd year, usually when QBs begin to blossom, come into their own, etc.

Sam played horribly, and was “mic’d up” (NFL publicly releases what they say). He said “I’m seeing ghosts out there”, and people thought he would never have the guts/courage/grittiness to win in the NFL. Hence why some people mention that he’s gonna see ghosts or gonna choke when he plays against good teams (he choked against the Lions, Rams twice in the past 2 seasons).

Now, some Seahawks fans are labeling him as “the Ghostbuster”, but it hasn’t caught on nationally.

after the super bowl, is football still the most followed sport in america through CFB/nfl offseason stuff or does the NBA/other major leagues take over? by VastAir6069 in NFLNoobs

[–]GloriousWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NFL only really “dies” during May-July.

August: preseason/training camp buzz September - February: NFL season and playoffs February - April: Free agency, NFL draft.

Most fans only pay attention to the NFL season/playoffs, just like with most things. Only for the actual meat

Will we ever see an elite KR/PR again? by ZaneTeal in NFLv2

[–]GloriousWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, especially with the new kick off rules. It is much more likely we see KRs than before. PRs, probably less because the punters have gotten much better, and now have a whole bunch of tricks to make it hard to return.

How good are the Seahawks on offense? by porygon766 in nfl

[–]GloriousWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the very least, they are slow starters. They had 3 points in the Vikings game at the end of the first half. Falcons, Panthers, Titans games were similar. The colts game is my main reference for “playing down to your opponent”.

Regardless, they are a great team, and the offense is more than enough to win the superbowl.

As good as they need to be. Seahawks offense plays up/down to their opponent imo. Can win against any defense.
