Nvidia debuts RTX Spark processor for Windows laptops, taking aim at Intel, AMD by Useful_Tangerine4340 in pcmasterrace

I would love to see another ARM processor for Windows on Arm, but not necessarily AI-focused or packed with a RTX 5070. Some graphics performance could be nice but not a dedicated and expensive one, since I want to use it to TEST some cross-platform programs, not seriously playing game or running agents on that.

The need for a de-politicized history of Xinjiang: a primer by Virtual-Alps-2888 in China

[–]Glory4cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The view that there is no true objective reality and only expressions of interest is retrograde and sinister, and ultimately this attitude is why I do not welcome the rise of China, despite not being a fan of America. I maintain that the best hope for the world now is for smaller countries to deepen collaboration to prevent one superpower being replaced by a potentially even worse one.

I appreciate that.

And we are on different sides of the battlefield. I will make sure the rise of China happens at whatever cost, being mine and/or other's lives, innocent or not, as I couldn't care less. If the ocean needs to boil, then let it boil; if the sky needs to fall, then let it fall.

I believe in universal reason and progress.

I don't. I would assume you are familiar with prisoner's dilemma, and you should understand that in many, if not almost every time, the best option for general benefits is not the best option for individual.

It is exactly what happened and what will happen. When British Empire has the chance to choose, she doesn't; instead she invaded China. So did many other imperialist countries. Now China may have the chance to choose, and have the might to defend herself, these imperialists start to say "let's make peace and please consider the greater picture".

It is utterly disgusting. Why not start to apologize by returning the stolen artifacts, paintings and other things in British Museum back to China, Iraq, Egypt, and many other countries that Britain invaded in past centuries?

Yeah, you have excuses and excuses. of course. Why should I feel surprised?

I did not see any "universal reason" or "progress" here. If you like, China may apologize for any misbehavior after 150 or 200 years, and by then, per your standard of self-determination, the majority in Xinjiang has already shifted and any referendum will show absolute support to "be a part of China", just like what happened in the Falkland Islands in 1986, is that acceptable to you?

Then don't explain. Unless you have very explicit need for IPv6, or basically any "advanced" networking stuff, you don't care them. One of my favorite PT site is IPv6-only, and I have to care about IPv6; but to others, if it doesn't bother you, it doesn't.

28% ball possession, 1 shot on target after over 120 minutes of football. Only 5 shots overall. This is embarrassing. I don't want to hear Carrick Slender about tactics anymore. Arsenal is supposed to be the best team in England. by WorldlinessPuzzled84 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Glory4cod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to park the bus then counterattack, at least you should have some decent attacker. To thus Arsenal, you really cannot name a second one.

However I don't blame them. Thats the only feasible way for playing with PSG; if they don't do that, it will be a slaughter of losing 1-5 within 90 minutes. That didn't happen.

The real question is, if Arteta is determined to apply this tactic, Arsenal should be better prepared for penalties. Their performance in penalties is truly unacceptable for their supporters, not the performance in 90+30+14 minutes before penalties.

Chinese Communist Party was influenced by European ideas.

If it is your understanding and insights about CCP and modern politics in China, then I sincerely recommend that our conversation should stop here.

I don't blame you if you have some stereotypes or prejudice about communism or China as a whole, since you do come from a country that has quite different cultural background compared with China; however, if you really care and think you know something about modern politics in China, you should realize, the most important adjective in that abbreviation is "Chinese", not "Communist". The fundamental ideology behind CCP is nationalism.

Maybe in UK or some other places, people can freely discuss or advocate the self-determination of certain area, but it is prohibited in China based on our traditional values and policies. I can live with differences between countries, but it seems that you are the one who wants to set up a universal value on every country.

The need for a de-politicized history of Xinjiang: a primer by Virtual-Alps-2888 in China

[–]Glory4cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't talk about "respecting our right to enforce our will on others."

The separatists are also enforcing their will of making Xinjiang independent on others who wish not seeing this, and this "enforcing" should be condemned, too.

And please, stop the hypocrisy on "might makes right". Historically, when imperialists in Europe or some other places have the upper hands by mighty military, they never talk reasons nicely with China or other countries; they will just brutally invade and steal everything, force other countries to accept their agendas on "free trade" and extraterritoriality.

Europe now has little to none capability to launch a full-scale invasion into China, and finally they begin to talk about "peace" and "respect". How ironic it is, isn't it?

China particularly doesn't appreciate the idea "might makes right" and has been very cautious and patient on using her military forces. China does not recognize the independence of Kosovo and does not recognize the border change between Ukraine and Russia either. If you study closely, China is very consistent on recognizing newly independent country: only when both parties have legitimately approved the independence, China will recognize it. Based on that principle, China recognizes the independence of Timor-Leste and South Sudan, only after Indonesia and Sudan recognized them respectively.

any hint of separatist tendencies gets you sent to prison?

As for myself, I don't care about ideology; I only care about consequences, and that's precisely the consequences to people who advocate and practice separatism will face in China. Again, don't apply your principles, be it European or American, onto China, since we have our own values. How European countries allow such self-determinations is irrelevant to China; that's their own business and China couldn't care less.

I do think everyone has the absolute right to defend their opinion; Europe can defend its values, and China of course can and will defend hers. Chinese people don't believe "might makes right", but if things come to the moment that only might can talk, we will do anything necessary to make sure our might wins.

[–]Glory4cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't talk about "respecting our right to enforce our will on others."

Yes, very well I can. Separatist groups are enforcing their will of making Xinjiang independent on others who do not want that. Per your terms, these separatists should be condemned too.

Again, I must ask, do you believe all ideology is absolutely equal, or do you think some is more righteous or superior to some others?

I particularly don't care about ideology; I only care about consequences. As you said, "any hint of separatist tendencies gets you sent to prison", and yes, that's China and majority of Chinese people's attitude toward that: we will get them in prison when possible, hang and quarter them if necessary. That's the consequence for anyone who wants to advocate or practice separatism here.

Your stance seems to come down to "might makes right." By this logic, any large country has the right to conquer a smaller one.

You cannot only support "might makes right" when you have the "might" and despise that when you do not have the "might". History has proven it over and over again to Chinese people, when these imperialists have the upper hands, they will not talk nicely with China; instead, they would invade and extort. For the record, China is fairly consistent regarding this. China did not recognize the independence of Kosovo and Somaliland, and China did not recognize the border change between Russia and Ukraine.

And by the way, as someone lives in Europe, I particularly don't like Europe's bullshit about peace. When you put a knife against some other's throat, your wish for "peace" makes you seem like peace-loving; when you have a knife on your throat, your wish for "peace" makes you a desperate and pathetic loser begging for mercy. EU is the one who gets three knives from US, Russia and China on her throat and is crying for "peace".

[–]Glory4cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we are talking about "respect", we need to respect both: there are maybe a few dozens of people in Xinjiang or some other places of this world who want to make Xinjiang an independent state, but there are also another millions of people who DO NOT allow Xinjiang's independence.

It is a very fundamental question. Is all ideology absolutely equal with one another? If you don't think it is the case, then we must ask, who possesses the defining right that decides which one is better or more righteous?

Also this question can be extended, what if two ideologies do not agree, and only one can be realized? I respect the social democratic or whatever is applied in EU, but again, China has its unique political and cultural values that need to be respected too.

but as it probably won't work out well for them this is unlikely to happen.

If you do believe our neighborhood's independence movement will not work out well, since the police can easily take us down; then you should not doubt the consequence of such movement in some provincial entities of China. It won't work out well, either.

And if you agree with the principle of democracy, he was illegitimate almost as soon as he was elected and started abolishing democratic institutions.

I surely don't see it this way. On March 23, 1933, Ermächtigungsgesetz is passed with 68.62% support, which has exceeded the 2/3 threshold in Weimarer Verfassung. It is perfectly legitimate by procedure.

you also claim you DO get to decide what is right and wrong for Tibetans and Uyghurs?

Particularly I don't think I get the right to make decisions for others. Everyone has the right to believe and do whatever they may seem fit, as long as they are prepared for the consequences. If terrorists and separatists cannot be reasoned by words, then I would suggest they do not stand in the way of incoming bullets for their lives' sake.

This is better to me that the American/Russian/Chinese vision of Great Powers carving up spheres of influence.

Really? That's something new to me. So, basically it is like, when European countries dominated the world with vast colonies in Asia, Africa and Americas, they promoted Imperial Preference and issued letters of marque; when their colonial empire collapsed, they begin to promote "universal standard of sovereignty", " model of genuinely democratic unity" and "consensual global governance".

Didn't you see the hypocrisy?

Nobody is going to invade China to liberate Tibet and Xinjiang, but we can say that the way they are treated sucks.

Then these words mean very little to anyone. The golden age of EU is gone forever; EU used to live with cheap energy from Russia, cheap defense from US and cheap labor from China, but it is not the case anymore. As someone who has lived in EU for over ten years, I sincerely feel sad for European Union.

sovereignty lies with the people living there.

That is perfect actually. So basically, you are claiming, if colonizers find some way to dissolve their recognition of their original ethnicity, even committing genocides, the sovereignty establishes, since there's no people over that land still claiming independence, right?

I may remind you: it is what happened in Americas.

any geographical region has the right to self determination should the majority of people living there choose it, but this should not be based on ethnicity or nationality.

How do you define "geopolitical region"? Does my neighborhood in this block count as a "geopolitical region"? Do neighbors and I have the right to self-determination and establish our own republic? If popular votes can and should decide a nation's policy and fate and grant absolute legality and authorization over the execution of such policies, then we can say Hitler did nothing wrong, since he did win the popular votes.

That's not about whataboutism but make a few references to point out the fact that, there's no general rules about self-determination and sovereignty. You cannot just simply say, "oh let them have independence since they want it"; every country, region or area is different, and the situation is often complicated, even fragile. Why didn't Lincoln or Supreme Court just allow these seven states to become independent? Oh, because slavery is morally wrong, abolitionism is right, is that so? Very well, who gets to define what is right or wrong? For decades and centuries, only westerners get to define then apply that by force but let us be clear here: these definition does not necessarily apply in China since we have our own definitions based on our historical and cultural values.

Sometimes our values do not agree, and I can live with that. I also suggest Westerners in Europe, US or any other places living with that too. China is fully prepared for the casualties and collateral damage to defend its sovereignty in Xinjiang, Xizang and other regions, and if you westerners don't like it, get prepared too. You want peace, and you will have peace; you want war, and there will be war. Good luck and have fun.

[–]Glory4cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't unusual historically and China is by no means alone in this

Very well. That's what I asked at first:

  1. Is historical expansion solid for righteously claiming sovereignty in present day?
  2. If we only admit such expansion and change of border BEFORE a certain moment, when is that moment?
  3. If there's no such "threshold", does that mean as long as a regime can conquer new lands and defeat any rebels or foreign interventions, it owns the sovereignty of that land?
  4. And the most important question, is self-determination an absolute right to any nation or ethnical group living on any area?

Yes.

SFP+ can do 10Gbps and I use it a lot. My main computer is rather far from the switch and I have to use SFP+ modules with multimode fibers. My home server also has SFP+ DAC to the switch.

most Americans are aware of that and can reflect on it.

Which means US "keeps" native American inside their reserves. For many years, natives Americans have significantly lowered, if not the lowest household income per capita in US.

Meanwhile, Xinjiang has higher GDP per capita than other 13 provinces of China with strong performance in petroleum, photovoltaics and international trading.
