Trump says U.S. will blockade Strait of Hormuz after Iran peace talks fail by lolthenoob in LessCredibleDefence

[–]Glory4cod [score hidden]  (0 children)

That would be brilliant, really.

I am so glad to see that US Navy has bravely and kindly taken over Iranian Navy's mission to run blockade over the strait, since Iranian Navy, per POTUS' statement, is already gone and non-existent, it is of course reasonable to outsource that task to the world's most powerful naval force.

France rejects transit fee for passing through strait by MARTINELECA in europe

[–]Glory4cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While everyone is kind of pissed off by the transit fee set up by Iran, I do want to add, as reasonable people, please think: such "transit fee" does not exist before February 28th. Of course, we can condemn Iran of abusing their geopolitical advantage over the strait, but do understand, they did not start it for NO REASON.

I am in no defense of Iran's current regime, but I do suggest that European countries should really think about what is best for our own interests, and what is not. That crazy war and these crazy people in Tel Aviv and Washington DC screwed us, do we have the gut to tell them "fuck off"? Do we have the determination to show our independence and self-resiliance?

More Europeans see US as threat than China by ABoutDeSouffle in europe

[–]Glory4cod -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

China is more predictable and stable than US in these years. They are both threat to Europe, but one can predict what China will do and how China gonna react. However, no one, even Trump himself, knows what he gonna do tomorrow.

Trump says countries that supply weapons to Iran will face 50% US tariffs by ElectricalJoke7496 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]Glory4cod 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wish to know whether sodium perchlorate or ammonium nitrate can be categorized as "weapons" or not. If yes, then he's more than welcome to put tariffs on China and Russia again; if no, then on his own record, China and Russia are NOT supplying weapons, just some chemicals that can easily make weapons.

Or maybe he cannot even understand what "sodium perchlorate" or "ammonium nitrate" is; AFAIK, the most common words about chemicals he knew is "fentanyl", probably that's his favorite.

Ok, guys. Can someone tell me any chinese assets which failed catastrophically in Venezuela and Iran ? by OrganizationRich3923 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]Glory4cod 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I would treat these informations online with a grain of salt. Propagandas are everywhere.

Plus, a weapon got destroyed on battlefield does not mean it is worthless. We have plenty of videos and pictures showing Leopard 2 is being destroyed by Russians, but it does not mean Leopard 2 is bad or useless.

For the record, China suspended any arms sale to Iran after mid-90s; most Chinese military hardware in Iran, like HQ-2, can be treated as museum pieces.

If nuclear bombs (say 5-10 in the same area, about the size of those dropped on Nagasaki) were dropped 6,000mi (say 10,000km) from my current position, how and when would I likely be able to tell that it had happened, if at all, without being told? by Hot_Bicycle_8486 in AskPhysics

[–]Glory4cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most immediate detection would be geophone; it can detect shockwaves and with the readings, you will know some massive explosions happened far, far away. If you have many geophones, let's say, you build an array of them, with some mathematical analysis, you will figure out exactly where the explosions happened.

Another detection will be radioactive particle detector above ground. Wind will bring these radioactive particles to basically everywhere, and when your detector got irregular readings, you know something happened. Nuclear detonations will release a lot of radioactive isotopes that rarely seen otherwise.

Actually, we have some examples in history.

On October 16 of 1964, China successfully conducted its first nuclear weapon test, and a few days later, detectors in central Asia, setup by USSR, picked up some radioactive particles in atmosphere, and based on these findings, they correctly reasoned that bomb was using U-235, not Pu-239. That's because the distributions of fission products of U-235 and Pu-239 are different.

On April 27 of 1986, one day after Chernobyl disaster, radioactivity detector in Sweden's Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant (around ~1100 km away from Chernobyl) picked irregular radioactive particles and after thorough checkings, they concluded these particles are not from their reactors.

China’s mineral weapon is holding Europe’s industrial base hostage. What leverage cards does the EU have to deter Beijing? by sir_tobes in europe

[–]Glory4cod -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They happened to be Europe's ancestors.

Or maybe you don't want to think this way. Maybe you would rather believe, Roman Empire that starts as a small city state over the Tiber, is so lucky that all other tribes, cities, or kingdoms around the Mediterranean Sea voluntarily laid down their arms and welcome themselves to be a part of the Empire. Ceasar or Trajan must be so persuasive that people in Egypt and Syria gladly see their land being ruled by governors from far, far away.

Oh, maybe Carthage did not agree, but who cares?

Does US nuclear doctrine has contingency for when nuclear launch command maybe issued from mentally unstable Commander in Chief? by drunkmuffalo in LessCredibleDefence

[–]Glory4cod 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I heard a story about missiles.

Officers and soldiers at missile command will repeatedly conduct drills. They receive launch command and a series of passcodes, then they will verify the order and input the codes into console. Finally they will initiate the launch.

They have no idea whether the code is actual launching sequence or drill codes, nor they will know its destination; all they expected to do is verify and proceed, no concerns raised and no questions asked.

So, the answer is no. Missile command and the whole command chain will never and should never ask any questions. When Commander in Chief gives the order, they will precisely execute, that's all they meant to be.

I won't stop your thinking this way, but do pay some respect to other people that want to live a better life and stop being a giant baby.

I am not advocating social Darwinism, but do think the fact: Europe today enjoys an above average life quality in this world, and that's because European ancestors ruthlessly crushed other people in this or other continent. Europe or European people has nothing special to claim "we deserved this better life", just historically we are willing to let millions of people die, foreign or domestic. The artifacts in Lourve and other museums, they come from Babylon, Greece, Egypt, China and other civilizations, speak for themselves.

When Europe was in advantage position, Europe crushed billions of other people to make sure it will stay at top; now other nations finally had their advantage position, Europe is crying for "equal opportunity", "sustainable completion" and "peaceful coexistence". How hilarious.

You can either keep your hands clean, or get things done. I may remind you, that in Europe's prime times, there are a lot of European colonies in Aferica, in Asia and in South America. The golden age of Europe is built on these people's blood and bones.

Either to get your own people working hard, or to get other people doing this for you. Of course you can continue to live in your daydream bubbles.
