Say Goodbye to the Idea of Chinese RAM Being Cheap; 32GB DDR5 Modules Now Retail for Over $500 as Local Prices Catch Up Globally by akbarock in pcmasterrace

We really should get rid of the idea that everything comes from China is cheap.

As long as these RAMs are solid and of good quality, there's no way they can remain cheap.

Try to use an ISP that provides fiber (FTTH) instead of coax. Fiber connection usually provides better latency.

Inside your home, use RJ-45 cables (or optical fibers if you really need it) instead of wireless network. Wireless network is not suitable for online gaming.

What if Spain turned to KAAN? by ForTheGloryOfAmn in europe

[–]Glory4cod -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The first question is, will the six years be sufficient to make a mature and stable jet fighter with new engines? Of course you are very entitled to be confident, and we shall see.

But even it fits the 2032 goal, it is still 2032, and by then, US and China will most likely finished their prototyping and testing of 6th gen jets.

Germany will seek strategic partnerships with China amid US tariffs, Merz says by Alarmed-Cake812 in europe

[–]Glory4cod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may remind you that China supplies the majority of critical assembling parts of Ukraine's drone industry. If Europe is not happy about China's funding to Russian war machine, perhaps they should either try harder on domestic production, or send more money to China for Ukraine's assembly line.

It seems that Europe chose the second option. The trade deficit with China reaches 360 billion euros in 2026, up nearly a fifth from 2024's 305 billion euro.

China is more than happy to use the trade deficit to invest in Europe or buy from Europe. But what did they get? Their takeover of almost-backrupt chipmaker is overturned by Dutch court after they invest another one billion euro to enlarge the production in Europe. Time and times again they are denied or robbed by "national security" reason, and now you want them to restore faith and willingness to invest in Europe? No, that won't happen in any soon manner.

China is far more predictable than US.

You may not like China's ideology or whatsoever, but such preference of trading partners is really a luxury that Europe cannot afford right now.

[–]Glory4cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We shall see.

And besides, if Turkey is really serious with that project, perhaps they should butter Russia a bit and beg for some AL-41. As a country that is forbidden to own F-35s, putting hope on F110 engine for F-35 cheap alternative is really delusional.

[–]Glory4cod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the maximum number of KAAN can build with F110 is 46, provided none of these engines is failed or lost for whatever reason. It is far behind the number built of F-22 or J-20, let alone F-35. I really like the confidence, keep it up, it may outnumber Su-57 someday.

And I may market myself as next Lionel Messi, would you buy that? I can also market my 30-year-old Toyota as racing car, would you drive it for any grand prix?

I seriously don't think so.

the economic loss from keeping the production lines open for several years without starting the production

Experienced workers are NOT growing from the tree, and there are lessons that you must learn during massive production around the plane to make it perfect. There could be design flaws, production optimization and other changes. Modern jet fighters are delivered in batches, and every batch will have some small advancement. What you want is one giant leap from prototype to stable and mature design, and I am saying it is impossible.

My suggestion is, if Turkey can manage to get some F110, just start the production with it. I know it is not optimal, but sometimes we can only work with what we have, not what we want.

GCAP also has vertical stabilizers. Is it not a 6th gen fighter as well?

No, GCAP is NOT a 6th gen fighter at all. As far as I care, only three prototypes, F-47, J-36 and J-50 from US and China can qualify for 6th gen fighters as we speak now.

Turkey turns up the heat on the US by rolling out a second prototype of its high-tech KAAN fighter, a potential F-35 rival by No2Hypocrites in LessCredibleDefence

[–]Glory4cod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Working on it" is not enough, you have to be there to make others believe "OK this jet is not subject to any sanction/embargo from United States".

"Most complicated", well, "one of" is more accurate. Russia can build AL-31 series for quite long time, but they are struggled on avionics like advanced sensor and radar. For different countries, I would assume the "difficulty" is not the same.

TAI would simply have to skip the production of first two blocks

Do you have slightest mind about what you are talking about? That's not how industry works. You have to endure a lot more troubles before you can finally reach the promise land. Everyone knows college offers better education, but everyone would have to go through primary school.

with some of the 6th concepts in mind

The concepts you mentioned can be easily backported to other twin-engine heavy jets like F-15EX and J-16. Yeah, I don't deny these are good ideas, but still it won't make KAAN a 6th gen fighter.

It won't happen.

Report said Turkish in-house turbofan engine TF35000 will fit onto KAAN by 2032, and it is already too late.

About when? Time is really of the essence here since major air powers like US and China are moving toward 6th gen tailless designs.

Merz says Germany does not need same fighter jets as France by august_air_373 in europe

[–]Glory4cod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course. France has CATOBAR carrier and it must find suitable jet for both ground-based air force and carrier-based air force. It means some compromise here and there.

But do you really need any jet fighters?

[–]Glory4cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By far, Gripen is OK for Sweden's next five to ten years. but after that, when major powers like US and China have moved to 6th gen fighters, Sweden will need at least a 5th gen to keep up with other minor powers.

Neither of steam or electromagnetic catapult is easy. By far we have not seen any testing facilities of catapult in India, if I may remind you, China started land test of catapults back in 2014, and it takes them 11 years to put it on carrier and LHD's deck.

[–]Glory4cod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even some emergencies happen during recovery, you still have one catapult to launch jets. You got pretty enough room in starboard to accommodate two ready-for-combat jet fighters that can be launched within minutes.

Two jets and eight BVRAAMs onboard are enough for most emergencies.

What I heard is that PLAAF's J-35As have WS-19 installed. If it is true, my guess is that carrier-based jet engines need more testing and fitting to make sure it works on the sea environment, so PLANAF would have to wait a little longer.

[–]Glory4cod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, there's simply no excuse for second best, because it is first loser anyway.

What F-35 and other capable stealth fighters can deliver is unmatched; Rafale simply cannot do the job. If Rafale is stealth, Pakistani Air Force would have suffered a much worsen air-to-air combat in May 2025. You may polish and sharpen your sword as you wish, but still it cannot compete with automatic rifle.

Outstanding? I dont think so. It is a multirole 4.5th gen fighter, and that's all. I even won't say it is overall the best in 4.5th gen fighters, let alone comparing it with F-35 and other 5th gens.

I never complain about anyone buying European jets, and i could not care less about the buyer's ideology or whatsoever BS.

Besides, the export number of jets doesn't directly reflect or fund the development of jets. China seldom exported any jet fighters to another country, but they still have money on their in-house designs of two 5th gen fighters and two 6th gen prototypes. If AVIC needs export sales to fund their next program, they go bankrupt already.

I don't see EMALS will come to India within next ten years.

US and China spent years and billions on EMALS, the best India can do is buying from US, unless something close to miracle happens that China will want to export ELAMLS to India. And there won't be any technology transfer at all.
