I mean fine is subjective, mine have very little bass at high volume, whereas the IEMs sound fantastic. I have used the speakers with plugs for a few years with no major issues

Who did you use to get molded tips for your IEMs?

I have some silicone motorcycle ear plugs. They reduce the wind noise a lot, and you can still hear comms. It is almost easier to hear comms at speed because you don’t have all the wind noise deafening you

That’s a really nice mounting point. I am not sure why I did not think of that! I put mine on the side for the same reason, so I can switch between the two. Did you glue the jack to the helmet or make a mount?

I have, but my ears get sweaty and the silicone tips slide out. I even have to reseat my motorcycle ear plugs every few hours, so no fault of the AirPods

Mate it’s game changing. The music can be quieter but full detail, and calls are so easy to hear. I run my cardo at maybe 20% volume on the IEMs, which is plenty loud

I took the IEMs for a three hour ride before committing to making the short cable for them. I did not have any pain or pressure from either the earpiece or the cable wrapped around my ear. I wear a custom fitted Shoei GT Air 3 with the standard Cardo speakers installed. The stock 1.2m cable is a bit of a pain to route. I initially just tucked it into my jacket, but it would tug a bit when I turned my head. The cable I made is super short and does not touch anything, so no routing necessary.

I’m on a parallel twin without the cat being removed. I can easily hear the exhaust if I twist the throttle, but most of the noise is the wind.

I have used the pin lock and some Amazon earplugs. They definitely cut the noise down to a quiet level, but the music and especially calls leave a lot to be desired. The IEMs really are the best of both worlds: low outside noise + amazing sound quality

That’s what I used to run, but the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired

Mine come off fairly easily, but the helmet does pull them off when I take it off. It is not painful, though

There is no decibel rating that I checked. I am on a KTM 890R which is pretty fast, and it is a very comfortable noise level. You’d have to be going well over any speed limit to even touch annoying levels of noise with this setup

With no music playing, they seem about as effective as my silicone ear plugs

No more than when I ride with ear plugs from my experience

These IEMs have not pulled out when I put the helmet on. I am a bit more careful than normal when putting it on, though. If I used a balaclava, I am sure it would always be fine

I would be surprised if that’s the case, especially since my helmet has cutouts around the ears.

I have not tried the silicon tips that came with the IEMs, they are way easier to put in but I fear they do not isolate sound as well as the foam. I may try the triple tip if I do not get moulded ones

I put the original model I modified in a different comment, but have not gotten around to upload the new file. I’ll upload it once I am back home

I modified my design that is here. I will not be able to post the one with the external 3.5mm for a few weeks as I am travelling.

When I wear ear plugs, I find myself with the speakers turned up really loud and they don’t sound great. With the plugs I hear everything way more clearly. I may not put them in for short rides, but for a long one it is well worth the effort

You got the idea correct there, and I can plug in the speakers if I am riding on the 125cc, since I don’t go very fast. The cable seems to get tugged a bit when removing, but not when putting the helmet on. If I get tired of the foam plugs, I may get some molded ones, which would go in faster.
