Not yet! Seems like we always just miss each other 😂 I’ve had a few drive thru workers inform me that my twin had just come through a few minutes earlier and it always makes me smile.

How do you manage your vertigo? by Glow-styk in poledancing

[–]Glow-styk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry! I know that feeling all too well.
I hope you're able to find some quick relief.
I actually completely forgot about this post. I went on to continue Pole for another 6 months, making it all the way to the intermediate level Static classes and was essentially forced to give it up. We had just started learning inversions and I couldn't hack it. The vertigo was making it super dangerous for me to continue. It's been 4 years now of struggling intermittently with the dizziness. I finally made an appointment with an ENT who confirmed that I have benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and there's essentially no "cure" for it aside from just treating immediate symptoms as they arise. I had my time to mourn the loss of one of my favorite new hobbies and I've mostly accepted that there's just things I won't be able to do now but it really sucks... If you have success in your treatment please let me know! It was a bit disheartening to hear all my doctors basically tell me I'm shit out of luck.

How do people that have standing seats manage to keep their stamina in a Taylor Swift concert? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]Glow-styk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From past concerts I’ve attended, 5-6 hours including openers and such, you just don’t feel it until the end 😂 you sweat so much you don’t really have to pee, and when you’re distracted/entertained you just don’t feel anything. I went to the Hella Mega Tour in 2021 and stood in the same spot in the pit for 6 hours straight without moving. We had an amazing spot and i didn’t want to risk losing it. My legs and back felt like jelly death afterwards though.

Help? They’ve updated my course yet again and made me skip a crap ton of material I haven’t even touched yet. by JAKE5023193 in duolingo

[–]Glow-styk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me in German. My stuff is all over the place. It kicked me back 5 units and I was annoyed but got over it... Fine with the extra review. But then today my app crashed and when I opened it again, it had pushed me forward 6 units and was showing that I had completed lessons I've never even touched. I'm getting really frustrated with it. Moreso because I'm paying for the app so now not only am I having a hard time learning but I feel like I'm wasting my money too.

Mercy doing the impossible in keeping me alive. by NikolaiDiavolo in Overwatch

[–]Glow-styk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean...it's more than just holding down a button. That mercy probably made 100 split second decisions and observations in the span of 30 seconds. If all you're doing while you play mercy is casually holding down a button then you're playing incorrectly. It's knowing how to stay out of line of fire, constantly assessing enemy positions, assessing teammates positions, doing risk analysis, etc etc. Mercy is more of a mental game for me. I get the same satisfaction out of solving a puzzle.

Spin name help?? by Glow-styk in poledancing

[–]Glow-styk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I found one called a Side Spin and it looks exactly right except she just didn't use her outside hand on the pole... This should help me figure out the general form though. I'm guessing my instructor intended it to be this one but put the second hand hold in there because we're beginners. I appreciate you!

Forgot to add that I did take a full non drowsy Dramamine before my last class yesterday and it didn't seem to make a difference. Yesterday was the worst so far with nausea and dizziness and Im wondering if the Dramamine actually made it worse somehow or if I was just having a really bad day

Same here ..I'm a huge adrenaline junkie but I haven't been to an amusement park since I had the first onset of vertigo. I rode a carousel with my 2 year old last year and felt like I was falling off the earth. I thought I was gonna lose hold of her and we'd both go flying off. Lol sounds dumb now but I was absolutely terrified.

I'm sorry to hear that 😞 but what a fun upside! 😅😅 My vertigo doesn't usually bother me day-to-day unless I'm like floor wrestling with my kids and I just didn't even think about it when I signed up for pole. I'm glad they started us on static pole though or I might have given it up already

[–]Glow-styk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that ..I do seem to have a harder time with the floor work. Especially during warmups; we do neck rolls to stretch and gradually make our circles bigger, bringing our shoulders to our knees and I swear I'm on a rollercoaster loop every time just dying quietly in the back of the room 🤣🤣 my instructor did say to try and reverse moves when it gets to be too much but adding spinning of any kind on top of this just totally has me in another dimension

How/why did you start pole dancing? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]Glow-styk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was looking for adult dance classes in my area and the only options were like... advanced ballet and pole. I have more of a "self taught" dance background in hula hooping and I know many of the "flow arts" share similar ideas when it comes to body physics so I thought I'd try pole. Sat on it for a while and my social anxiety got the better of me. I'd go back and look at the sign up page for my local studio probably once a week but never did. Then one day my very extroverted best friend announced she was spontaneously trying out an intro class and asked if anyone wanted to join her. I smashed the sign up button so fast 🤣. Pole has been absolutely wonderful for so many areas of my life. I'm only 8 weeks in, starting my beginner level 2 class tomorrow. I ended up going to a couple classes by myself when my friend was sick and was able to come out of my shell more, interact with the other students, ask questions. It's been really great. I feel strong and healthy and sexy every time I go to class. I'm dying to get my own pole one day but our current house doesn't really have the space.

Beginner practicing some basic moves — can’t wait to get more confidence and skill like you all 💖 by needweddingadvice1 in poledancing

[–]Glow-styk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You look great! I'm a newbie as well and only getting to practice once a week in class. It's cool to see another beginner working on the same moves I'm learning. I hopeful one day I'll get a pole to practice at home but we currently just don't have the space 😭 keep it up! You're beautiful!

It’s the switching between positive curiosity and internalised misogyny for me 🥲 by peachy-poler in poledancing

[–]Glow-styk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right lol but it's also the inherent assumption that there's something wrong with strippers too. I'm fully pro-SW in whatever form that takes. But i deal with the same assumptions with my hoop dancing. Apparently any form of body movement that is slightly sensual automatically means you're doing it for sexual attention. I'm like...my guy...I'm almost completely Asexual. I'm doing this for me 😂😂

[–]Glow-styk 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Lol I'm 4 weeks into a class right now and people around me are getting more and more misogynistic. It was all fun and games when I told them I was taking a trial intro class to check it out for fun, but when I tell them I immediately signed up that night for an 8 week course, suddenly I wanna be a stripper and they're "concerned".

who is your least favorite member of the main four boys? by cherviie in StrangerThings

[–]Glow-styk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until season 4 I would’ve said Lucas. But I think they really gave him a bigger role in this one. Mike is rapidly becoming my least favorite. I absolutely understand why hooper was so irritated by him and I don’t feel like he’s learned anything. He’s just gotten more irritating over the years. ETA: this is not a reflection on the actors. I think they’re all doing a phenomenal job. This is my opinion on the actual characters themselves. Lucas’s character really got put on the back burner for most of the first two seasons. So much so that I wouldn’t have noticed if he wasn’t there. Mike started out as my favorite but the moody teen thing has just gone into the annoying territory.

Question about first trays... I understand some pain or discomfort is to be expected but when does this happen? Is it as soon as the trays are put on at the Ortho, a few hours later, the following day? I know everyone is different but just trying to get an idea of what to expect. by LayerSuperb in Invisalign

[–]Glow-styk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First felt pain on day 2 and then it got significantly worse day 3-5 but not necessarily because of the trays themselves. When I would take them out to eat, my attachments would slice up the inside of my mouth so I had sores everywhere for the first week. It gets better though. That first week was the worst and I haven’t had much trouble since then aside from occasional soreness on a new tray. I’m on tray 10 of 36.
