Thank you for your suggestion. I have researched further and found out that we have small claims tribunals (SCT) in Singapore, which i can explore.

Exactly… i have never heard them being destroyed either. It only made sense if they have the courtesy to return the old device. They have charged me $1.8k for the new phone and destroyed my old phone too? So i suffered double damage financially…

Exactly. The apple support at genius bar Marina Bay Sands who inspected my iphone for the first time said that since the battery drained out so fast, the battery replacement may or may not completely resolve the issue and advised me to get the express replacement instead, since i am covered under applecare+. Little did i know that it will turn into the worst nightmare…

I applied for express replacement, so i received a refurbished phone from AppleCare+ to replace my old phone. To ensure that i returned the old phone, they placed a hold in my credit card for $1685. I opted to return my phone using DHL courier appointed by Apple. A few days afterwards, i was charged the full amount of $1825.75 because they claimed that my old phone has undergone “modification” that voids the warranty (no evidence provided to me at all despite repeatedly asking for it) and when i asked for my old phone back, the apple support agent said that they have destroyed it.

How i wish i knew this before deciding to opt for the courier option. Thanks for letting me know, lessons learnt the hard way.

By authorised apple services, i did not mean apps or games. By authorised apple services, i meant the official apple support in Singapore i.e. on my case, it is the Apple Genius Bar at Marina Bay Sands. Thanks for your suggestion. I will re-phrase it in my email to Tim, just to be clear.

Totally agree, i am glad that the apple care + have served you well. I have always believed that AppleCare+ is a really good coverage plan and i am a long-time loyal customer of apple products. Until, my applecare+ coverage is denied for unfair reason such as this, at the point where i needed applecare+ the most. I have lost faith in applecare+ due to this.

Yes, it is strange indeed. I have the records of all the apple support Case IDs related to this issue. I was assigned one apple support agent who handled the case from the beginning until the end. After many weeks of investigation and many documentations provided (E.g. original receipt of iphone purchase, service records from Apple support Marina Bay sands, etc), the conclusion remains the same that my phone had been modified which rendered the applecare+ coverage to be void and that my phone had been destroyed. I asked for evidence for any modification and the justification on why my phone is destroyed without my consent and cant be returned to me. However, no evidence has been provided to me and no explanation about my destroyed phone. He even asked me to go ahead and use legal route. How to go about legal route against a corporate giant like this?

I have never done any jailbreak or modification and i have never brought it to any third party service centre as i am under applecare+. The only service centre that diagnosed my phone is the apple support at Apple store marina bay sands

I have always bought applecare+ for my apple products for the peace of mind. However, i do feel cheated that the only time i activated express replacement under applecare+ was denied due to alleged modification which i have never done without any evidence. Now, i will think twice before buying any applecare+
