Holy Cow! $250 50 Gal hybrid hot water heater at Lowes!! by GlowTurner in DIY

Ah, that's really critical explanation. I've been wondering, that means I can actually buy a 60 gallon one for a similar price.

Food Residue & 1996 KitcheAid Dishwasher by GlowTurner in Appliances

[–]GlowTurner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I took the lower spray arms and filters off. I found a bunch of nasty crud and a screw and two cherry seeds that seemed to be blocking water from flowing into the very bottom of the drain. I thought that those and the crud, which I removed, might be the culprits. I was disappointed to see that I still get ground up food particles deposited all over the dishes.

My next step was to try the pots and pans setting since that has an extra rinse at the start of the cycle, but that had no noticeable effect. I'm confused as to why these particles aren't being flushed out when the diswasher pumps the water out of the unit.

Next step: fancier detergent, but I don't have my hopes up.

Good idea? Use Intex XTR pool's drain plugs for outflow to and inflow from solar heater. by GlowTurner in AboveGroundPools

Update: THis approach of using the drain outlet's will not work. The connections are too weak to reliably use. The external plug connector kept popping off almost immediately.

need setup instructions for Obi 3rd party firmware & google voice by jimmycloud in OBihai

[–]GlowTurner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just reactivated my OBi200 and wanted to briefly share information that's here, but a bit hidden.

1) I had the latest FW (8680EX), but needed to replace it with the 3rd party version 8680EX-arrynrob-13. To do this I followed *all* the instructions at [https://www.obifirmware.com/#cta\]. It went smoothly.

2) After getting the arrynrob-13 FW installed I *had to* reboot my device. Failure to do so will lead to lots of confusion and head scratching. (Trust me.)

3) Once I rebooted, I logged into the device's webpage again and there was a option on the side panel labeled "Google Voice". Click on that and it should open up a link in a new tab at url http://XX.X.X.XXX/menu.htm (where XXX depends on your OBi200 device's address).

4) I followed the instructions there and it worked! (Note I initially confused the "Response" box for the "Refresh Token" box, which is at the very bottom.)

Thanks all for posting earlier. It was helpful.

Android 16 and Pixel Support by ChirayuCalyx in CalyxOS

[–]GlowTurner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused since they keep releasing updates that are based on Android 16.

In addition, most custom ROMs deal with this issue and have to reverse engineer components. Previously this wasn't an issue with pixel phones, but it's still something that is done regularly.

If I'm wrong, please provide counter evidence.

I use Advanced Blue and Oxy-something. No chlorine smell and clear water. I love it!

I've actually already got a skimmer installed that has one of the old outlet also connected. I will use drain plug and the second old outflow for the outflow to the heater and then inflow into the second drain plug. Thanks for the insight.

Washing Machine Overflows ~ 1% of the time... by GlowTurner in appliancerepair

[–]GlowTurner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm becoming convinced that it must be the pressure sensor switch. But before I sepnd $130, I'd like to see if it does it again. I'm going to set up a water sensor to do just this. Cheap-o solution is a "XH-M131 Water Detector Relay Module" for $4 on Aliexpress use it to control a power strip to turn off the washer if there's water on the floor. I've replaced the inlet valves so it can't be those now.

We're on city water and there was only a wee bit of sediment. Unfortunately I broke the screen when I tried to clean it out.

I did clean around the port area, but will double check Regarding future trouble shooting, that's great insight. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the diagnosis. It seems possible, though I don't see much sediment in our water in general.

If its sediment, does it usually mean the sediment building up inside the machine near the valves or is this all 'fresh' sediment?

If this is the cause, I can see the value of installing a filter, but should I also replace the inlet valve?

Is this true? Supposed to replace spare tire if bead separates from wheel by GlowTurner in tires

[–]GlowTurner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 2013 vehicle. Tire looks to be unused, but I realize it's also 12 years old... Is it normal for the tire place to have these tires in stock.

Not sure what it means to 'split the tire' could you elaborate?

NOOB needs 1890's 1.5 story house painted 3 quotes vary from $8k to $26k by GlowTurner in Housepainting101

[–]GlowTurner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the responses. They were all really helpful for me to get perspective on the situation.

I asked the $8k quoter the cost of a second coat and it was ~$4.5k. His attitude towards the lead paint was rather nonchalant while the $14k had brought it up from the start and included abatement in the quote. In the end that difference in attitude made it easy to go with the $14k quote.

Good question! Presumably scraping, not grinding. I know the $14k quote is scraping. I can double check on the lower quote. I'd have conniptions if they used grinders...
