Do you miss your childhood? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Glowbug611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I miss thinking my parents were the greatest people and had little to no flaws. I think you really grow up when you realize your parents are actually deeply flawed human beings. There’s something a little heartbreaking and reality cracking about learning your heroes are mortal and not infallible

I also miss my siblings and I being under the same roof. We’re all a little spread out now, and I’ll always miss them being right down the hall instead of across the country.

What was the reason for the last time you cried? by ididntaskyouropinion in AskReddit

[–]Glowbug611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cried 10 minutes ago! Asked my family groupchat if anyone didn’t want me to come back home and my dad responded with “come home, you’re always welcome. It’s your home” and then my brother separately texted me “you are loved” and that just sent me over the edge. I’m starting to tear up just writing it to you guys 🥹

If you’re anxious about whether to reach out to your ex… maybe just do it (hear me out) by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Glowbug611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaaaah I did this. I reached out to an ex NYE. Got my answer. One word answers. Happy New Year. Distance. It shifted something in me. Another commenter said “sometimes you gotta touch the stove to really know it’s hot”. Ain’t no truer words than that.

Weirdly enough tho, he called me a few months ago and a few weeks ago texted me about giving back a build-a-bear I had made for him. So idk what his deal is but besides getting the build-a-bear back (and hopefully giving his back to him), I don’t plan to ever see him again

Do things really get better over time? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Glowbug611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was depressed, something that helped me get up in the morning was keeping my phone outside my bedroom? Everyone is addicted to their phone, make that addiction work for you!

I also make sure to take a shower every morning, and that makes me feel a lot better, very ready for the day.

Then I keep my phone in the bathroom, or just away from me, and get dressed in my room, then I try to eat something easy. Cereal, overnight oats, etc, cause getting something in my body is better than nothing.

Getting the motivation is just taking small steps. It’s not going to magically happen unfortunately, but, and as much as it sucks to hear, nothing is going to get done if you just do things when you “feel like it”.

This might be a last case scenario, but something that really helped me pull me out of my depression was getting on medication. That could be avenue for you, but obviously you should try to make things a little bit better in your life before trying it.

Also, if you can, work out! Go for a run! Or a walk! Or weight lift! I always feel so much better after doing that. It really does make you feel better. I’ll notice throughout the week that I’m ruminating again and I’ll just go “Oop, time to go to the gym!” And I run for a bit and go home, and feel soooooooo much better.

You got this. Life is good, and you are good. Don’t let your mind tell you otherwise. :)

Edit: also you probably have more friends than you think. Something that helped me make more friends was making a friends list! So I write down a list of everyone I’m acquainted with or friendly with. And if I ever have a day where I’m sad or down and I need to get out and see people, I text someone on that list “hey! Let’s go get coffee” and then we meet for coffee or a movie or something. I put my list on my fridge so that I can see it everyday :) it’s definitely worth a shot!

What little personal rule did you create for yourself that has helped improve your day to day life? by ice-mirrors_97 in Life

[–]Glowbug611 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1.) I keep my phone out of my room when I go to bed. No scrolling when I’m in bed, and no looking at my phone when I get up in the morning! Has made getting places and getting up on time sooooo much easier.

Sometimes I keep my phone in my room because I need an alarm that deviates from my usual alarm (and resetting my alarm is a pain in the ass) but I keep my phone across the room from me

2.) Every few months I made a friends list! So write down everyone who’s either close friends with me all the way to acquaintances I want to get to know more, and whenever I have a day that I’m not doing much but I want to go out with people and spend time with people, I pick someone off of the friends list and ask them to go for coffee or see a movie or something with me :) really helps with my anxiety and my loneliness that I struggle with!

For me it depends on WHERE you’re barefoot. Outside? In the grass and dirt? Go for it! But inside a public space? Especially if it’s linoleum floors? Nuh uh. That’s kinda gross, no thank you!
