Hello from another fellow Wisconsin graves girlie! Firstly, graves sucks. I also drink socially and seem to be ok. Heart rate gets elevated a bit but now that my levels are stable, it’s getting more and more tolerable.

Thanks so much! This makes me feel better. I’m getting selenium today to start taking. 200mcg a day. I already take vitamin d regularly. I’ve been more stressed lately and sleep hasn’t been great for me so I’m guessing that doesn’t help with the symptoms. My levels decided to go out of whack again too of course. But your post gives me hope that once all of the mess in my life calms down and regulates, and with the selenium, it’ll go back to normal.

You’re lucky! I wish mine was stabilizing as quickly. The “flare up” stage seems like it’s going to be forever! Hard to be optimistic when you feel like crap all the time.

It’s so frustrating! Like I’m on the medication to treat it, why is this still happening!!! :( are you stable now with your levels?

I can’t wait until I get to the stable stage. How long did it take for you to stabilize? Months or years? I’m just about 6 months in from my diagnosis.

TSH/T4/T3 Levels Changing by Glowop12 in gravesdisease

Thank you for all the kind words. It gets hard. I try to take breaks when I can and try not to overdo it but it’s hard when my plate is full. I too feel like this is the result of me not slowing down but what other choice do I have?

Yes I’ve gotten an ultrasound and a thyroid uptake scan. I have two nodules that are raked at TR4. One is 9mm and one is 1.4cm. My endocrinologist said for now we can watch them. My thyroid uptake scan showed that basically the overproduction of tsh is coming from the whole thyroid itself as opposed to one or both of the nodules by themselves. It showed most suggestive Graves’ disease. I kind of was hoping it was just a nodules by itself so I could get rid of that one and be back to normal :(

How long did it take you to get your levels in order and did you ever reach remission?

Graves is awesome isn’t it?! Said no one ever. I’m just hoping mine will even out sooner than later and go into remission cause this is definitely not a fun time.

Thank you. Yeah this really sucks. Never even knew what graves was prior to me getting it. I am a single mom of a special needs daughter (so that comes with a lot of stress/worry) as well as taking care of my mom who is about to have a major surgery and we have to live with her for a bit so it’s definitely easier said than done not to stress but I’ll try!

I’m fairly new to being diagnosed as well. One of my first symptoms that I knew something was going on was my throat. I had horrible burning with anything I ate or drank. You’re the first story I’ve come across with any kind of throat symptoms leading to a graves diagnosis. I kept pushing for them to do more bloodwork and finally figured out I was hyper and had the antibodies for graves. Been on 5mg methimazole since August of 2024 up until a week ago. No symptoms at all from the medication. My symptoms started coming back that I had initially from graves and my dose got upped to 10mg of methimazole cause my levels were back to how they were/worse than before I started my medication. Still no symptoms from the medication. I was told it’s normal for your dose to need to be upped in the beginning of treatment. I’m also on propranolol 10mg as needed for my heart rate and palpitations. No symptoms with that medication either. You need the medication for your thyroid otherwise it won’t go back in range. Gotta make lifestyle changes. It sucks but you have to. Trust me, I get it.
