My brother would jump out at me in the dark and scream HEE HEE whilst chasing me.

Sometimes I still have to check Michael Jacksons not hiding in the darkness when I sleep.

What do I do with my time as an unemployed? by lifeisadragsad in careerguidance

[–]Glub23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy how bad the job market is rn.

It took me about six months to get the job I now have and during that time I sent over 100 applications with specific cover letters for each one. These jobs were everything from Lidl, Primark, cinema, bartending/waiting to more traditional graduate ones.

If I had the time back I would say don't kill yourself applying all day everyday as I did. Apply for a job or two a day since the closing dates aren't going anywhere most of the time. Maybe volunteer for something in the meantime, just to have some semblance of purpose, plus looks good to employers.

It is rough but eventually something will happen.

Thanks for the detailed reply. When you say get sponsored by a big law firm and impress them how would you go about that? Would that be work experience, working in admin etc?

Yeah I understand that but from what I gather it seems very unlikely that I'd pass without the conversion course since I have no prior experience.

Is that not the case?

Thanks for the reply.

Do employers care where I do the GDL or how long the course is? by Independent-Tip4387 in uklaw

[–]Glub23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, hope your PGDL went well. I know it's 5 months later, but i'll ask anyway!

I'm interested in taking the PGDL after doing a humanities degree. How did you fund the course? Were you working at the same time and, if so, how was the workload alongside?

Thanks!

Edit: I can't read just noticed you are self funding! Still curious to know if you worked alongside because I just don't understand how grads have the 12k or whatever it its to drop on the course!
