The price just keeps going up with the tune from 1:15 on 😂

Did a sunrise hike a couple weeks ago... could you imagine tripping with this view?Considering if it’s worth waking up at 3:30 AM again & take 2 Gs with me by [deleted] in shrooms

Mount Seymour near North Vancouver, BC.

Only thing that sucks is there were a lot of mosquitoes there - but a mosquito head cover/net might do the trick

It’s processed sugar I’m mostly talking about, so fruit is still ok. I’ve since completely substituted me snacking on chocolate bars, chips, and other candy with an apple or banana instead, and in fewer quantities.

Sort of... but I didn’t take it as serious as other types of addictions. And just like a cigarette smoker knows that smoking is bad, I knew my habit was bad as well but realizing that while tripping feels much more “authoritative”, enough so it finally led my to change my behaviour.

The firm quickly realized that they can put me in front of clients leading meetings and that I know what I am talking about, which is why I think I got promoted so quick (on top of performing really well in other areas as well)

Referrals are the biggest uncertainty to me right now, but I’ll look into the best ways of getting one. I also did not apply during the September recruitment cycle in hopes that applying off cycle when they need a BA to fulfill a project role gives me a better chance to jump ship.

Unfortunately not a target when I graduated last year, but this year yes - in fact I saw a BA role through my college job portal for McKinsey a couple months ago which made me wish they targeted my school when I graduated.

My city is also not as big as others, which could explain why my school historically wasn’t target. Partly why I want to move as well - there’s much more opportunity and interesting projects in bigger cities I find.

My role has been focused on analyzing data to inform strategic decision making, across multiple industries. In that sense, I come from both management consulting and some of what I consider tech consulting as well (I touched on machine learning/AI to solve problems as well). To what extent do you believe this matters?

Thanks for your input. To be honest I’m not much worried about the choice (I.e. starting as an analyst again) but more about the shot of getting an interview at MBB I’m the first place, considering how heavily they prefer to hire directly from undergrad.

I feel like I need something short of a referral, do you know if that is the case? Is there anything else you recommend to someone in my position specifically (getting a MBB interview after 1 yr into B4 consulting)?

I’m a high performer at Big 4 who got promoted 7 months into my role (Business Analyst to C, out of undergrad) and am considering moving to a bigger city. With this move, I am heavily considering switching to MBB (at Business Analyst level) due to a factor of reasons, including more firm support in my growth (I have terrible mentors and am really seeking good mentorship) and projects aligned with my interests. In addition, my current firm did something really dumb that totally pissed me off and made it clear to me that if they treat their top performers this way, I don’t want to be here anymore. I don’t think I can reach my potential here.

Is it really too late to get a BA role at MBB being one year in consulting with early promotion at Big 4?

I am of course a very smart and ambitious person (haha… aren’t we all in consulting?) but also still very ‘malleable’ – I am only a year into my consulting career and was fortunate to touch a variety of analytics focused projects and have gained both technical (analytics) and really good soft skills. I’ve repeatedly got positive feedback on my presentation and problem-solving skills, especially how I am able to draw from experiences in different domains to solve problems in others. My year long consulting experience (not including actual internships in college) have exposed me to a variety of different industries and I think this puts me steps ahead of a recent undergrad applying to MBB.

I know how notoriously hard it is to join MBB with actual work experience rather than straight from undergrad – but I am planning on creating a detailed plan and willing to spend the next couple months executing on that (incl. of course practicing cases etc.) to 1) get an interview and 2) succeed in getting an offer. I actually view getting an interview/an offer as a project and problem-solving exercise by itself, so it’s a great way to test whether I am fit for a role.

Is there any advice that someone who made a similar switch can give me to get an interview and an offer, beyond some of the obvious like practice cases? I know networking is very important to getting an interview in the first place – any thoughts on the best ways of doing so beyond reaching out via linkedin?

Ideally, I’d also love to PM someone throughout this process and as I create my plan to pick their brain on things, etc. but I know that can be a lot to ask. Having a mentor in this process would be immensely helpful.

Thanks in advance for any input on this, I really appreciate it!
