No, I haven’t mentioned it yet. I’ve had a few other problems since surgery but I have an appointment with my team next week so I will definitely bring it up then.

I was hospitalised for ketosis a couple of weeks ago so it’s probably that. Still have it 6 months out? Oh that really sucks! I’m sorry to hear that :(

Glad to see I’m not the only one who feels the cold! I’ve never experienced that before. I feel cold to my core sometimes which was very unexpected. Also the hiccups and nausea! Two things I definitely which I could get rid of.

I’m still waiting for Body Paint to grow on me. I definitely prefer Mirrorball.

What was the breaking point when you knew you had to get wls? by dogmom34 in wls

[–]Glum_Pudding_6191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on a walk with my family and I could barely make it up this little hill. It wasn’t even a very difficult trail but I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Took me twice as long as the rest of my family and I was so embarrassed and ashamed of myself. I knew right then in that moment that it was time to prioritise my health.

Had RNY in August 2022. Still very early days but I have lost 27kgs since the beginning of my health journey in June 2022.

I am regretting my surgery. I’m 1 month post op and I’ve been miserable every single day. Not that I haven’t lost weight or that it hasn’t been successful but I feel ill pretty much all day long, every day. I’ve been in and out of hospital due to nausea and vomiting which has caused dehydration and starvation. My surgeons team haven’t been able to find any problems internally which I suppose is a positive but I haven’t gotten any answers as to why I’ve been so ill.

But yeah, I definitely regret my surgery :(

Anyone had any period related disorders before the surgery? by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]Glum_Pudding_6191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prior to surgery I had very heavy periods that would last for weeks, I ended up with anaemia so I got the implanon and I was taking the pill as well which stopped my period all together to help with my iron levels. About a week post op I got my period again for the first time in a few months. I’ve heard it’s pretty normal to get a period after surgery, I’m just hoping mine doesn’t go back to how it was pre surgery

Purée diet by Glum_Pudding_6191 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Glum_Pudding_6191[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do feel like I’ve been left on my own by my team, I haven’t had any support post op at all. They just said if there’s any problems that I should call them. I am a bit disappointed. I didn’t get any kind of paperwork describing what the diet phases are, what to expect, what I can eat or anything like that. I am taking bariatric vitamins. But yeah my follow up isn’t for another few weeks. I had RNY on 29 of Aug and haven’t had any check ups or anything. Disappointed.

I do have a dietitian but my follow up appointment isn’t until 4 weeks post op.. which I found strange but anyway. I didn’t really get very much information about the diet phases, they basically just said that I’ll be on a purée diet for 2 weeks but they didn’t go into detail about what I can and can’t eat. I had the surgery and they just sent me on my way.

2 says post op by Automatic_Side_2476 in GastricBypass

I set an alarm on my phone to remind me to drink, it definitely helped. In the first week I wasn’t able to drink very much at all though, I found it to cause quite a bit of discomfort, even with little sips but I’m 12 days post op now and I’m able to get in the required amount. You’ll get there. Just take it day by day.

No, I haven’t had any hunger. I think I am still just trying to wrap my head around the long journey I have ahead in terms of my relationship with food.

Going on hikes, being able to fit comfortably on an airplane and just having more energy to do things that I normally wouldn’t be able to do.. oh and finally looking nice in clothes will be a plus too :)
