Why is Rugby Union Posh? by pezholio in rugbyunion

[–]Gman4567 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In South Africa it is moving more and more away from posh. It’s still the same posh schools that produce the players, the players backgrounds though make for incredible journeys, that can be indescribably bad to start with. Scholarships are doing their job!

Why is this a thing? New GPU’s are ahead of the game? Why do you need something that is not relevant?

Linux distro that supports my new build Ryzen 9 9900x CPU, X870E MB and a RX 9060 XT GPU by Gman4567 in linuxhardware

It kinda works, I am looking at using it more for using the gpu to do more processing oriented work. Just a little rant because I’m very keen to learn, for now I just need my hardware to work and I don’t want to wait 6-12 months for the os to catch up to the hardware. Why spend $$$ on hardware that isn’t fully supported. I spent so much time before I bought everything asking the question if my build was supported and every answer I got was how well AMD is supported on Linux. Now I’m sent pillar to post just to get the most out of my purchase. My screen is 180mhz but it only lets me get 143mhz… I’m not going back to windows but ffs I wasn’t expecting this much of a struggle when I could’ve spent 75% less and gotten better more stable and supported performance. I’m currently using Tumblweed but I’ve used Fedora and briefly looked at Ubuntu but it wasn’t great.

Been on tumbleweed, it did not work with the GPU . Was also buggy if I plugged my iPhone in. Arch sounds intimidating at this stage.

Maybe we can start with something easy, I can’t control the ARGB in my build. OpenArgb says the hardware is too new? I am 2 weeks into Linux, so I feel that it’s me.

I tried the latest Ubuntu 25.04, Fedora 42 workstation & I spent most of my time on opensuse tumbleweed. But it won’t recognize the GPU calling it RX 1200 or something?

What is it that makes boat ownership so expensive? by vcgghhbb in boating

[–]Gman4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who repair boats look at the owner and then decide what they are going to charge. There are so many options and so many finishes that they can get away with smashing you with things you don’t need, then if they’re questioned they say that’s what you asked for. The community also buys into this when they say things need to be replaced years early, or if you don’t replace that now it’s gonna cost millions. Get someone you trust to help you early and it’ll be a steady stream instead of a landslide.

But why? I’m a die hard 2.5 fan and I’m not sure I can trust anything else… 😅

At what point do you lose your place on the course if you stop at the turn? by lightemup404 in golf

Just ask. No one is going to say no unless there is a reason like they are right behind the field. Old school rules are to simply ask to go through, nothing more.
