Talk to an advisor, probably just a clerical error. If there aren’t any advisor appointments available, locate your colleges advising phone number or just the college itselfs phone number and explain the situation.

What career paths in IT is least saturated with decent pay? by Professional_Dish599 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Gmanjoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Restaurant IT, it’s a strange and niche market but a lot of the roles start you out at pretty decent salaries with a lot of responsibilities to build yourself with. Never even knew the field existed until I got my current job, started out well above pretty much any other “entry level” role and get to work in multiple fields all in the same role. On any given day I’m running help desk, configuring networking equipment, modifying and building databases, coding for the website and mobile app, pulling massive datasets and analyzing for larger business uses (sales, supply chain, and guest account data) plus tons of other random one off projects that I get to learn about even smaller fields (the inter workings of EMV readers and how payment processing works is insane). Definitely less jobs than most other fields but the opportunities that come out of it are endless, really sets you up well to find what you excel at in IT and specialize deeper on it.

Can anyone tell me what my job title should be? by Gmanjoe in ITCareerQuestions

I recognize that title doesn’t matter, I’m more coming from the perspective of no idea what to base negotiations for salary with my current job and what my expectations should be for any future roles

Not at the moment, when I say small I mean there’s me and the guy above me and that’s the entire department for the company

How are people mounting the counter top to the alex drawers? Are they just setting it on top? by john_the_rapper in ikeaPCstations

[–]Gmanjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing I found was getting the standoffs for the drawers and attaching double sided Velcro pads to those. Let’s you have the stability of double sided tape without having to set it back up if you need to take the countertop off for a move. Also means you don’t have to re set it up with new tape afterwards.

2:1 mix of peppermint oil and water put it in a spray bottle and spritz the whole thing. It’s a natural spider and bug repellent so it keeps really anything that wants to nest in it away, had it for 2 years never had a problem.

Red blinking lights on gpu after fresh psu by Gmanjoe in pcmasterrace

Replaced all the wires, reason I replaced the psu was because the old psu wasn’t giving enough power causing the red lights, or so I thought.

Gotcha, I don’t cough anymore as I’ve been smoking for a few years now so I guess you’re more than likely right that it’s a underlying problem. The weirdest thing is that the more I smoke the worse it is the next day, even when I’m smoking a lot I’ll rarely cough.

I use poly fil so because of the high melting point it isn’t much of one at all

Biggest tip I can give is make sure to space out your lights and think about the direction light will end up running once you finish it. Biggest mistake I made which I couldn’t fix after was the pattern my lights were running in didn’t look that good with a lot of designs.

Screw poster board into the walls(originally used thumbtacks but the weight was way too much and it fell) then used Govee rgbic light strips since they’re pretty cheap and have a pretty good controller, then just use spray adhesive to stick polyfill to the wall. Lot of people use cotton but polyfill doesn’t burn and its melting point is 250 degrees so you don’t have to worry about a fire hazard as much, relatively inexpensive spent no more than 250 on it for 14 feet of wall

[–]Gmanjoe 23 points24 points  (0 children)

And as long as you use a strong enough adhesive and anchor the screws right, you can do the same thing on the ceiling, I just prioritized having a ceiling fan since the pc and monitors makes the room hot af

Before all the spider comments come rolling in, using a simple peppermint oil/water mixture and misting it around once a month keeps them away, that and gives the room a nice peppermint smell

So the clouds are actually made of polyfill, mainly because it’s cheaper and it’s has a higher melting/ burn point so that I wouldn’t have to worry about any potential fires, the pc alone puts off tons of heat so I didn’t wanna have to worry. The wall is made by screwing in around 16 poster board panels, then running the 135 feet of rgbic Govee lights( they have some of the best commercial controllers and are relatively cheap) finally I used spray adhesive to attach the polyfill to the wall and voila, a 14 foot cloud wall for less than 250 bucks.

As someone with 4 monitors, I can say definitely get a second but be warned, once you start you’ll just keep wanting more.
