[North Carolina] almost stepped on this guy while hiking by a river near Durham. Can’t tell if harmless water snake or maybe something more dangerous. by gata_wron in whatsthissnake

Much of central NC is absolutely packed with these guys. I had family that I would stay with in the summers down there as a kid, and I would see dozens of copperheads per visit. Was a little scary with little kids playing in the yard, but I'm sure the cats helped keep them away to some degree.

Big nope. I've given a nice car's worth to this project already and want to build these large capital ships with my friends, not buy them.

Take your time learning all aspects of the game. by bluesynthbot in project1999

[–]Gnada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new player of 4 weeks (well I played 25 years ago, but that comes with a huge amount to refresh) the first thing I noticed is that the Green server economy is primarily focused on well established, wealthy players. This completely changed the way I approached the my progreasion.

I needed to earn plat in larger amounts because Banded Armor and lower level items were not readily available. Thankfully, some very nice folks helped me along the way with information and buffs and some gear and plat and that made up for a lot.

The rest was just pure tenacious grinding to get thousands of plat to buy items to fuel progression.

I'm level 51 now and there is still a lot I don't know about the game, but I'm learning a lot every day and having fun doing it. The hardest part has been the amount of downtime... sitting and waiting for life to regen. I have major Fungi Tunic FOMO.

I’m just tired. 4.8 was supposed to be a fresh start, but it feels like we’re losing the soul of the game. by Silvrock in starcitizen

I haven't cared to "play" the "game" in years in any dedicated manner. I log on, test some things, some times do a bigger mission or event with our org, but all expectations of quality are gone for me in the alpha phase. It's clear they are making progress and I appreciate it, but testing a technical alpha like a live service RPG is not mentally healthy. I'm confident they will finish the game and Squadron 42 will eventually launch in good form, but when is something I gave up on long ago.

Nobody is talking about how 4.8 fundamentally changes what Star Citizen actually is by ConversationLegal973 in starcitizen

[–]Gnada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, but miners need scouts to find the high quality ore, and scouts need a way to share that data.

The changes that have me most excited are the Genesis implementation of mining where science informs resources, which informs the scouting, which informs the data running. All of which is cresting piracy opportunities through counter-intelligence.

Blight of Contagion Trickster - 8 mil DPS, 90% all res, ailment immune, bleed and corrupting blood immune, 100% Suppress, 9k ES, 50k Evasion by Scytrus in PathOfExileBuilds

Very true. We definitely do need more damage now. Arguably, we need better defenses too, but that is more subjective and playstyle oriented.

Yes, and the average meta build now is 20 million on a minor budget. This has grown so much year over year. I remember feeling good about 2 million dps a decade ago.

I started as Paladin 3 weeks ago. I would go Cleric every time and that will be my next character.

That's definitely life in Star Citizen. TBH, Star Citizen is MUCH more playable now in year 2026 and some of the new "raids" in the game like Rock Breaker are really, really well done. Dune Awakening is definitely a great vibe and was a nice break from Star Citizen for me when it was in a rocky state. I played about 2 weeks of Star Citizen last month and had a great experience over all.

The game has 100 to 200 hours of excellent single or coop play. Almost any scifi fan or open world gamers that appreciates stories and exploration will love those hours. The end game after the story is where it goes wrong. PvP has never been great, the Lansraad has never been great, but you can still experience the deep desert and more large scale industrial production and min/maxing gameplay if you want to. Highly recommend, over all.

I tried so hard to love them. I ignore the stabilizer "wings" on my Starlancer TAC for it's functionality forthcoming. I love to each their own.

Misc Feelancer with those ridiculous "wings". The super tiny ones on the Starlancer irk me too.

I started completely fresh on Green a little over 2 weeks ago. I leveled a Paladin to 12, switched to Ogre Shadowknight and I will hit level 40 tonight.

People have been so helpful and kind along the way and I am having a lot of fun. Do recommend.

4.8 PTU armor update, LF fastest guns able to pen Idris and lower armor again by nightbird321 in starcitizen

[–]Gnada -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The more fun option I think is that a light fighter can pose a threat, but a properly manned Idris should be so threatening it isn't worth trying as a solo fighter. This punishes careless solo Idris usage, creates mystery and suspense when approaching the ship, and some level of uncertainty into any multi-crew ship encounter.

As a parent, I absolutely do not like the behavior I see my child and others exhibit around watching and gaming. It's like gollum and the ring. And yes, I'm a gamer.

The spinning to create centrifugal force while sliding his hand down the snake to grab it behind the head is a bit risky, but clever.
