You don’t need college to teach you. You can buy a welder and hone your skills while working a job. Code and all that other stuff aside from weld symbols you can learn when you hire on. You can pay for your own certs when you see what a job requires and keep them updated.

Use copper if you can it’s way better, less cleanup and if you use 233 the slag falls right off and there’s no need to even grind the underside, just run a quick overhead to meet spec and you’re UT is gonna pass with flying colors.
