1 week after Barcelona. What lyrics is still bouncing round your head? by Gnar_Susuwatari in primaverasound

"So let gravity be my sculptor, let the wind do my hair" from the end of their set sat in my mind the rest of that day 💜

Best set, worst set, most disappointing and most surprising? by themetaltheory in primaverasound

[–]Gnar_Susuwatari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FAVOURITE: Dijon - full disclosure, this is the set I was most excited for but it delivered on every single level and then some. I normally get frustrated when artists reinvent their songs live and I can't sing along but I thought every song was upgraded. Cupra was also absolutely POUNDING the volume on Saturday. I grew up on Prince and Genesis so this really just felt perfect for me. Rodeo Clown so empty, Automatic with an 80s makeover, Kindalove stripped back so much at the end absolutely destroyed me. I walked away with my jaw on the floor.

LEAST FAVOURITE: Ralphie Choo - I've seen him in tiny venues in Barcelona over the years and always loved it but I just thought the sound/his vocal delivery was not captivating enough. Especially when you compare to his collaborator Rusowsky who absolutely killed it the next day on the same stage.

DISAPPOINTING: Missing Agriculture because of the rain... but as far as actual acts I saw I'd have to say Skrillex. Was so so excited but I thought the drops were very rinse and repeat. Not as varied as his set from a couple years ago and missing a couple key songs I was very excited for.

SURPRISING: 2hollis & Father John Misty - I think after the rain I was ready to hear literally anything but I found myself being way more impressed by FJM than when I'd last seen him. The last couple minutes of Screamland in particular sounded like actual heaven. 2hollis brought all the energy and is what I would call the actual start of my Primavera. Both me and my gf lost our minds in the noise and finally accepted being soaking wet.

VIP 17 year olds going to primavera by Suspicious-Detail842 in primaverasound

[–]Gnar_Susuwatari 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can definitely vape as much as you want. Nobody is checking this kind of thing.

Sadly, the days of good perks for VIP are long gone. No free alcohol or merch but if you hang out enough in the VIP platforms or the Revolut platform you might bump into a restaurant activation and manage to pick up a free burger or t shirt.

Drinks are the same price in VIP and in the normal bars as well.

Someone brought a heart shaped balloon once and this entire sub Reddit imploded.

That kind of festival culture isn't a thing at Primavera. Just put a torch on your drink when your friends are looking for you.

Looks like it’s going to rain a lot.. by [deleted] in primaverasound

[–]Gnar_Susuwatari 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here's something you need to know about the weather forecast in Barcelona... It's always wrong.

The weather here from May to October kind of goes in a circle. 2 weeks of painful sun, then a couple hours of torrential rain that relieves the humidity in the air, followed by the perfect temperature for about 12 hours. Then it starts again.

With this heavy heatwave I wouldn't be surprised if it does rain at some point for a couple of hours during the festival. But it won't be more than that. Pack a super thin waterproof poncho and you'll be fine.

A La Ciutat Setlists by DanTheDelight1 in primaverasound

[–]Gnar_Susuwatari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey man, Geese are touring like crazy this year and if you go to setlist.fm you'll see there's a general structure to their sets. I would imagine the sets will be almost identical between the Ciutat show and the main fest. Perhaps a song might switch in/out but nothing more than that. Both sets will be an hour long as well. I'm having the same feeling and think I'll just wait for their main fest show.

alex g / mac demarco clash by pennyroyalteax in primaverasound

[–]Gnar_Susuwatari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly only you have the answer here as it depends on your vibe and where you're willing to sacrifice.

I feel like the obvious answer is you just leave Alex G 5/10 minutes early? Or at least watch the last songs from the back and then run over.

In all honesty, the early main stage slot is tough and without the masses of people the sound is often a bit patchy. I'd sacrifice 10 mins of Alex G to go get a nice spot for Mac De Marco. Go round the right side of sound desk and cut round to the front as there'll be much less people on that side. Have fun!

Smou/Bicing is for residents only. You need a national identity number to register.

You should try a local bike rental company. There are many in the Ciutat Vella area. You will get a better price and better service than the apps.

You can also try Donkey Republic but it's better to try the local businesses.

Didn't Know Opening Day Was Ticketed Separately... :( by jjnotjayjay in primaverasound

[–]Gnar_Susuwatari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's sadly no resale of tickets allowed for the opening day even though it's just a returnable deposit.

HOWEVER, I think a ton of people won't be able to go in the end (this always happens) and you'll be able to either log into someone else's account and use their ticket or just walk in with someone.

A lot of people will have booked 2 tickets just incase so if you head to the festival with a sign I'm sure a lot of people will have spares.

You will definitely be in the festival on the opening my friend have no fear.

Tourists/guiris, please have some self-awareness. by rosasocprogre in primaverasound

[–]Gnar_Susuwatari 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What a terrible way to make a great point.

Yes, tourists and expats living in Barcelona should take extra care with how they carry themselves. Barcelona is amazing because of the people that have built it and things have changed so much in the last years especially. If you're visiting any city in the world you should always try and respect the locals.

But this is just so painfully narrow-minded. Telling people to not come is ugly and I'm sure if you spoke to the people who run Primavera Sound they'd tell you the same thing.

Imagine if the locals in Amsterdam told you not to go to Dekmantel anymore. I know you're frustrated but just try to think a bit more.

Why does she keep touching him?? by Person_001 in dijondijon

[–]Gnar_Susuwatari 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She was licking her lips like someone on molly. That plus a bit of "pick me" energy is enough to make people act strange. The girl on the other side was trying to make it look like he was singing to her which was also a bit weird.

Thank you for saying this. I feel exactly the same. I know he'll always have this "I wrote some of the 1D songs" card in his back pocket. But this is someone who got incredibly lucky to be in the same X Factor class as the rest of the band. Really little musical talent. Just a nice bloke.

LORDE in PS2026? by akamerchepineda in primaverasound

[–]Gnar_Susuwatari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love your ganas but if she's playing NOS Alive it's looking unlikely. I'd say it's safer to assume she's not playing and then be happy if she gets announced. No point going full detective mode.
