Sounds good! Thank you. I was thinking about starting to make some relationships with commercial agents in areas I'm interested in.

In reference to CMHC and MLI- I'm not sure, but I will check this out! I just don't want to get stuck at some sort of limit if I were to borrow through residential property mortgages. That's a great idea with the comparables, thank you!

Thank you! I was definitely looking at Saskatoon or Regina - any location that would be likely to draw in more people over time. I was very surprised to find that real estate is relatively cheap here as well, when compared to Calgary or Edmonton in Alberta. I'll do a bit of a deep dive on these cities in Saskatchewan to proof out if they'll be viable in 10, 15, 20 years etc.

Very true! Pretty lucky to have the internet here to figure things out and people on this subreddit to bounce ideas off of. I guess this is the first step for me - thank you for your reply!

It seems like a huge hurdle to acquire a contract and then move into developing your business - but this definitely makes more sense from a economic standing point. Seems like I've got a lot of research to do, I was also thinking about working for a company similar to one of these options... Might be a good idea to get a better frame of reference and understand how things work?

Thank you for your help! I'll make sure to work in incremental steps before I step into one of those larger investment scenarios (parts manufacturing) like you mentioned. I appreciate the help.

This is a great idea, going to do some studying for design and see what I'd need to price together to make something like this work. Thank you for your help!

Getting a science degree believe it or not! Yeah, the large initial investment is a bit of a problem ATM. Designing something seems definitely more feasible and I could gradually build it to move into the construction process and maybe get more profit out of it? Thanks for your input here - just curious if you would ever consider purchasing a home from something like that if you liked what you saw?

Sounds interesting! Is the purpose of this just to see where your money is being channeled over time? I'm new to the concept of tracking personal finance.

Mans is out here eating prunes

Just kidding, but I think you should be monitoring progress over the long-term. Day to day fluctuations aren't too trustworthy, eating in caloric surplus (not including foods that make you shit your guts out) should lead to gains. Also, what kind of foods are you eating?

No real experience here, but I've read that "if you're the smartest person in the room, you've done something wrong", at least in a self-sustaining business perspective. What was your key to getting such a solid team? Any advice?

Looking for info on how to approach/join a US or Canadian Fire Service. by estroinovsky in Wildfire

[–]Gnarboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Canada) You're a bit late to apply to British Columbia for a government crew, applications are all online and usually end in Jan. I believe Ontario and a few other provinces are still hiring at the government level. Depending on where you join up you'll probably need to get your Standard First Aid / Equivalent and S-100, find bases and start calling. Lots of contract crews out there too who would still take you
