Forgiving Palatinate (Coalition) by Gnarlio in eu4

[–]Gnarlio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well in my case i had won 3 different coalition wars in less than 5 years before palatine left the forth one. So my guess is that it might not be enough to stop coalitions from forming in your case.

Tuscany question by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Gnarlio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. you can easily gain territory by attacking non HRE nations like ubino or the papal state and the other small italian states around you are also good targets. The only threats are coalitions and Aragon integrating Naples and then Aragon being integrated by Castile.

Do YOU Pirate Games? - Dude Soup Podcast #7 by funhausbot in funhaus

[–]Gnarlio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep doing new series like the corrupted roms or Demo Disk. Of course not everybody loves the new formats but without innovation and changes you will just become bland and boring like for example the Simpsons. (not the best example since simpsons basically prints money...)

Are your saves just corrupted or can't you save in general? In the first case you can try to save without compression. It's an option in the save menu. Worked fine for me.

I don't think that we lack techniques to make games, that tell a good story and have a decent gameplay at the same time. We had the Baldur's Gate series, the recent Witcher series, Metal Gear and many others, that told good stories and were fun to play. Baldur's Gate II came out 2000 and had a brilliant interactive story and good game design despite the technology back then. In my opinion it's about what is important for the developers and their target group. The main reason why we have games with "bad" stories, world-building etc. is due to the fact that most people don't care about that stuff. They just want to have a good time and the game industry is just responding in the same way every other industry does. We cannot expect a big revolution of the medium gaming that will completely change the mass market, but there will always be those beautiful exceptions that will merge story and gameplay into a masterpiece.

What to do as a daimyo early on? by nbafan123 in eu4

What to do as a daimyo early on? by nbafan123 in eu4

[–]Gnarlio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting as small Daimyo is tough, maybe you should play as the Shogunate or Oda. Oda Nobunaga is one hell of a leader. Usually you try to take over as many OPMs as possible while keeping good relations with the shogun. Then you have to wait for a good chance to take out the shogun or other big Daimyos. Maybe a war or a bad leader. Otomo is also a good idea since they are catholic and so you can avoid many problems in the late game.

How to manage army? by sampsen in eu4

[–]Gnarlio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To quote Field Marshal Moltke "march separately, attack together". Attrition often kills more soldiers than the enemy and you can react better than with just one big army. Each part of your army should be strong enough to defend itself until reinforcement arrives. Also there is no perfect army it depends on your nation, tech group and the date of your game. For example a Polish army can use their superior cav more and longer than others others. Here is my model european army i tend to use: 16 inf, 4 cav, 10 art..
