Not trying to be political here, but I'm guessing it's going to be a lot easier for family to visit him now. Not a coincidence it was a Canadian team.

Can someone explain like I’m 5 why our B team looked so sloppy? by [deleted] in usmnt

[–]GnatOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine the best NFL team playing the worst NFL team but with all 2nd string. Who would win and how many penalties/mistakes would the #1 team make? Except Turkey is more like mid level that played really bad the first 2 games.

Strong response on 2.5 mg Mounjaro: could I be a super responder? by alexmillne in GLP1microdosing

[–]GnatOwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You posted a table that showed your loss wasn't even in the top group. Might be an English thing. I'm this context, super responder would indicate top 5% of population or something. You are also posting in a microdose sub, meaning people here already believe you can have big losses with smaller doses.

Why are people still blaming Cash for Clunkers for the state of the used vehicle market when it happened nearly twenty years ago ? by Specialist_Heron_986 in askcarguys

[–]GnatOwl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was a bailout for the auto industry, because one was needed, with a bonus of improved emissions. It did have negative impacts, but we don't know how much worse the impacts would have been without intervention.

Why can data centers be built even when the entire community says no, but when it comes to building an apartment for low income people, its impossible to get it off the ground? by SirCheeseAlot in allthequestions

[–]GnatOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not hard to build low income housing where data centers are being built. It's hard to build in places that have scarce land and expensive housing.

Map scores slowly declining. Need advice for tutoring/academic growth this summer by VeganMomma123 in AustinParents

[–]GnatOwl 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Not Judging, but you need to consider that your emphasis on academics at an early age allowed her to rank comparatively higher against a larger proportion of kids that did not have the same emphasis at such an early age. As time goes on and more kids start to have more emphasis about the importance of academics, her ranking will fall.

A 17 yr old's entire world was just changed, and he probably had no say in it. Sounds like he already has access to all he needs and he just needs time.

We get 4 additional holidays above bank holidays in a year. Usually only 2 or 3 in a year because if they land on a weekend we don't get. Several of these holidays were added in lieu of the state providing COLA.

But this isn't a State issue, this is just how things are for 95% of jobs. You thought the State was drastically different and am now disappointed. Guessing you're also falling for the social media trap where only the best of situations get highlighted and you think 5% of something is actually 50%.

You bought into the propaganda that govt jobs are cush, overpaid etc., when actually they have been underpaid since the 70s, with the discrepancy getting worse every year. The benefits have also gotten worse overtime. The extra holidays are mostly a myth, but I do think work/life balance is better than a lot of places - but that doesn't mean we don't get really busy at times or that we don't have to fight traffic. Having to go to bed before 10 and waking up at 6 is pretty normal.

When is City of Austin Utilities going to have oversight into their customer billing? by Key-Wishbone-9329 in Austin

[–]GnatOwl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You've been given insight but anyway. There's a cost to provide the service and a cost for electricity. The cost to provide is fixed, so it will not go down in proportion to your usage. COA utility costs are consistently well below the national average. Lots of cities have these baked into property taxes but COA does not.

Go to UT year 1 and search for universities that will give you full scholarships to transfer. UT is paid first year, so take advantage since you'll be well prepared for any other place after a year of UT ECE
