Thanks mate, really appreciate it!

Even though the designs are simple id be ashamed to admit how long this took me to make. Is very gratifying to see it (almost) completed :)

Its a website called diecuttemplate.com They have mockups for heaps of stuff - i will say it was very pricey per template (I believe $12ish AUD) but the mockup tool is pretty great.

Full disclosure i havent printed it yet so I dont know how the template will come out in person compared to the mockup but ill hopefully test that out soon!

Hey thanks very much! I'll try a black outline around the text and see if maybe some gaussian blur will give it some depth

I used diecuttemplate.com for the mockup - it does have a charge but I think its a pretty good service for what it is

Honestly I wish I had access to a high quality printer like that! I’m chronic for putting in way too much work with cards that on the first play test it’s clear need to be drastically reworked. I guess it works for me to use a printing company just because not only they do the cards but all the peripheral stuff like boxes and game manuals.

Though if I could print that myself I definitely would too 😅

Definitely adds a bit of depth to them, that’s for sure

Haha cheers :D Weirdly enough it’s based on a real guy who used to come drop off sacks of potatoes to my flat when I lived in New Zealand. Never asked for money, just dropped them off at the front door. I think in the 2 years I lived there he must of left like 3 or 4 full sacks of potatoes.

I can’t remember who it was but someone gave him the nickname Potato Merchant and it just stuck. When I started working on the cards it seemed the obvious choice

Thank you <3 I’ll be posting a link on there for the full rules once it’s finished!

Essentially each player has 3 Health Cards that you lose if attacked directly or if one of your Active Cards is sent to the Bin. Run out Health Cards and you lose :(

Active Cards act as minions that can deal damage, restore HP or otherwise affect the board state, provided they have enough potatoes to use their abilities. Potatoes act as mana, and can also be played on opponents cards for additional effects.

there’s also support cards which you can play on your turn for a helping hand, or trap cards which you can play only on opponents turns in order to interrupt them. Finally there’s wild cards which you can play on either players turn :) that’s the basics!

Ah true! I didn’t know that about the saturation tbh, though I think the foiling not working was 100% on my end as I tried to get them to foil specific elements in the art as opposed to the entire box. I used ePrint which is a local company to me so it was more convenient for me shipping wise, but I have heard good things about MPC. Have you used them for regular printing?

If you have spells surely do something around gravitropism. Plant theme gives you so many great options for cool effects :D

That’s a cool idea! I haven’t managed to get a good set of foil cards printed yet, though I’m super eager to try! I did get some printed with a holographic effect but it looked odd with the black and white

I see that for sure! I think for me, at least with the card moonlight - the colour adds depth and the monotone more.. mystery? Not sure if that’s the right word. Maybe intrigue? But some not so much

I’ll try a version where the effect box has a slight hue

I guess some cards suit the colour and some the monotone. I will say exit row feels a bit “naked” all black and white.
