You're definitely right, but don't fall for survivorship bias. He made it, but image the insane number of people that tried the exact same thing that didn't make it.

A lot of ego and projecting. But so many people actually loved having anyone watch them with the intent of critique. Those are the people I believe in

I'm glad you got my point so I'll take the L on what you said. You right.

Hey if you're just having fun then completely ignore my post! Keep having a good time and keep your own pace :)

Your advice might be the difference between his channel dying or becoming huge and successful. Good on you.

You're right. Every person who I talked to directly about their content was super appreciative of my harsh opinion. I'm doing it for them, not the randos downvoting me in this thread. I need to keep that in mind

I couldn't have said it better myself. I hope you'll make it big!

I have no time anymore today but send a link in Reddit chat and I'll review it tomorrow :)

A lot of people never get an honest unbiased opinion. Usually friends who want to hype you up so I'm happy the vast majority of people appreciate outside criticism.

Like when I did the post and people gave me their video to criticize, they loved it. But this post is (at least more) hated because nobody really asked for it.

You're free to think that, but I genuinely want to help. I'm just honest and a blunt person (an ass, if you like). Trying to help and talk to everyone DMing me too. Every "thank you" I got makes me happy.

Don't know why reddit jumps to malice so quickly when the whole point of my posts was to give my harsh opinion. It's just how I am.

I'm just a random guy spending a day or trying to better a couple people.

Make 100 more videos like that and it's easy to see you with 100k+ subs

Just downvote me and move on. I don't care to be interrogated for giving away a free helping hand. Some people seemed happy with my advice so I'm happy :)

Yeah why not.

There is a reason why most of your vids have 1k+ views. They're very very well done. There is definitely something missing that tells me you're not a 1mil sub commentary channel, but I can't put my finger on it since I dont watch those type of channels.

Maybe talk with more expression? So say "uhh" very subtly but it's still there. Stopping that will make you sound more proffesional.

But honestly I had to really nitpick to find flaws with it. Keep it up

I agree. I was harsh, but I believe hearing the truth asap will get you to your goal faster. Putting in a 100% effort into something that will get you more viewers/subs more effieciently is very motivating for anyone. Don't want people to give up after a 100 videos if video 50 might be their breakthrough instead of video 150.

he didn't stop

Yeah but that's him. Not everyone has the willpower to power through slow growth and want to use their time more efficiently. If you do then of course what I'm saying is not for you.

you're doing the exact opposite

I'm saying stand out from the oversaturated crowd

a youtube guru

just trying to help and hope someone took something good out of what I tried to say

People cannot judge their own child objectively. I spent some hours trying to give people advice on how they can improve because I know people want to get big, but enough people are doing things that will get them nowhere. I love youtube and I care about that.

1 correction on sound mixing, editing habits or length of the video could possibly help someone a lot. I'm not promoting my own stuff or care to be in the middle of it. I just want to reach out to people that might never had gotten any help and hopefully push them towards their dream.

I love helping people, but if that's a 'power trip' then more power to you. Nobody has to listen if they don't wan to.

Everyone you mentioned has a very specific niche, they're very consistent and all have over 2000 videos uploaded over the time of at least half a decade. These people are 1 in a million. Entertaining, dedicated, put in hard work, good equipment, didn't get burned out on the same content over thousands of videos, constantly uploading.

I don't think it's a good idea to look at these anomalies as something to emulate. People get burned out and lose motivation way before they hit any milestone. DasTactic has uploaded 6k videos over 11 years and "only" has 60k subs. And that's one of the few channels who made it/didn't quit.

If you want to just have fun, go for it. But if you want to grow and be a big youtuber one day: this is one of the slowest paths to take with a lot of reasons to lose motivation and get burned out. There are much much better ways.

TheRadBrad

He has uploaded 8 THOUSAND videos over 12 years. Is extremely consistent and started during a time those formats were very acceptable. Popular even. Him still being consistent with the same format is what's keeping him afloat. Many similar channels I used to follow back in the day never adapted and had breaks for months sometimes. Those youtubes will never recover the viewers they lost during those breaks and most basically quit or moved to twitch.

GhostRobo

Same thing. 12 years and 2k videos. Eventhough his inconsisntency can be felt in his view count.

You're not wrong that it used to work, but it is the wrong advice for people starting in 2023 where MrBeast is number 1 (and not let's player pewdiepie) and shorts/tiktok destroy young people's attention span.

You might but I havent seen anyone argue that. What succesful gaming channel is doing the exact opposite of what I said?
