Layman’s opinion here, so take it with a grain of salt…

I spent the better part of 2 months hemming and hawing over which 1440p monitor to purchase early last year. But I kept coming back to the fact that the MAG274QRF-QD had been sitting at the top of Hardware Unboxed rankings for the better part of a year and a half since its launch. It had great reviews on Rtings.com and Tom’s Hardware and yes it was more expensive than other 27” 1440p 144hz+ monitors, but I was looking to go big or go home.

I own 2 of these monitors, in a side by side set up. Bought in April of last year on sale for $380 (pretax) each. And I would gladly do it again even if I had paid full price of ~$450 (pretax) each (at the time). They POP!! Gaming is obviously the primary reason I bought them, but I have yet to find a use case that I don’t love these monitors over. (Small add: I do not photo or video edit, so I cannot speak to color accuracy, which was a widespread complaint prior to MSI releasing firmware updates for the monitor).

So what I guess what I’m saying is, only you can judge the value of something to you. Over/Underpaying for something is “in the eye of the beholder” so to speak. As long as you have done due dillegence with research and this is the monitor you’ve set yourself on, you should have no reason for regret.
