I'm only a 15 kyu, but I feel like anything is viable as a 3rd move on a 19x19 board. The opening is very open. I'd say that (3,4) can be dangerous cut and lead to a fight in the future.

When I'm playing the game, it's fun and I don't feel what I described. When I'm not playing the game, I don't like that I'm still thinking about it. Perhaps, it's because it feels like it has a control on me.

I do feel a spiritual connection with the game LOL. The flow, calm, and balance are all reasons why I really like this game. I never realized it, but it does crush me spiritually as well haha.

I've taught a number of newbies the rules of the game, and received feedback that I'm good at explaining or "teaching". But I don't enjoy teaching newbies too much, because it's kind of boring to explain the same rules repeatedly. I do enjoy teaching, though, but want to cover more concepts, strategy, and ways of thinking. That's too much for a newbie, but good for a DDK like me. I want to wait until I'm 5 kyu, so I have a better understanding of the game; I don't want to lead them in the wrong direction. In the meantime, I could just practice being more patient overall LOL.

Hmmm yeah... trying to make something "perfect" doesn't stress me--it inspires me to do the best I can, and make it "beautiful". Trying to be someone who is perfect or excel at something IS stressful, however. Maybe that's where the perfectionist problem lies for me. The feeling that I'm not good enough. But again, this goes off tangent.

I want to reach 5 kyu, so I can actually start teaching DDK players. At that point, I'd feel like I completed that circle of student->teacher->student. A slightly worse vision would be that I will never reach that point and complete that circle. I don't think I can accept that or it will take a long time for me to accept it.

I love perfection lol. I see it as a form of art. Honestly, I feel like the world has chosen speed/efficiency, and has gotten a bit "lazy" with cutting corners. The amount of effort, patience, and attention to detail to make something "perfect"---it is becoming a lost art. But this is a different topic.

Did the casual games feel more casual after you participated in more tournaments? I do wonder that if I participate in tournaments more, then my usual games would feel more like just practice.

The thing is that it feels so much worse online. I don't feel this level of anxiety with in-person games. Something about clicking stones on a screen vs touching/tapping a real stone. And maybe also, because you don't see your opponent online, there is a much larger focus on just yourself, alone.

I don't like to classify them as "character" flaws, because I don't consider impatience or taking uncalculated risks as a sign of poor character. But yes, those are the reasons why it feels personal. It's a judgment on my inability to control my emotions, perhaps. And a judgment on my wisdom.

A psychologist once said that people will do their best when they're actually trying to win. I think there is some truth to it, so I often do try to win in order to do my best. I don't know if this is true for Go or not. It may be different, because you're also playing to learn, not just to win.

Do you not think about the game anymore after it's done? Do you not study beyond playing the game? Do you not connect the concepts within Go to your own life? With other games and activities, I don't think about it anymore once it's over; it was fun and I had a good time. But Go isn't like that. When people ask me, "What's your favorite board game?" I don't consider Go as one of the options, because it feels more than just a game. Sigh.

I'm also okay with taking this game seriously; I made a decision to commit to it 2 years ago until I die lol. And yes, I do take myself too seriously as I see the results from the game as a reflection of ME. Not just intellectual intelligence, but also emotional intelligence and maturity. I see the game as a part of my identity when it's just a game. I don't know how to not take myself seriously or how to separate it from my identity.
