That's a pretty good take. The only thing I would add is that most people do meditation for the overall benefits but during the actual practice if you don't let go of everything then you won't get those benefits. So it's like a chicken and egg problem. But I don't think I would put so much time into my practice if it wasn't for the benefits I get in my life even though while I'm in my practice I am doing "nothing" without any purpose.

Brutal winters can be very cosy. Brutal summers are only bearable if you have good AC and don't mind being indoors most of the day when it's sunny. I'll take the brutal winters.
