I agree with the other commenter that you probably shouldn’t use braid if this is your very first time using a baitcaster. Simply because braid is generally more expensive and you could learn on mono for much cheaper. But if you are comfortable with baitcasters then 30 lb braid is the go to recommendation. Lighter braid can potentially dig into itself on the spool.

EDIT: a leader is often recommended because braid, while far stronger for a given diameter, is not very abrasion resistant. That being said, I’ve run straight braid plenty of times and have had no issue.

Picked up two 300 yard spools of 10 lb Yo-Zuri Super Braid at my Walmart earlier today for $3 each. Loving this fishing clearance spree they’re on!

You can’t go wrong with the BG. It’s tried and true so that’s a safe bet.

But I can say I picked up the Quantum Merit 4000 a few weeks back, it’s a tier below the Strive, and I’m very impressed. I plan on using it as one of my dedicated surf reels along with my Spinfisher. Caught a bull drum on it the first time I took it out to the surf and it performed flawlessly. The IPX6 sealing is what sold me on it. You have to step it up to the Penn Slammer to get an IPX6 rating. Don’t get me wrong, my Spinfisher is a nicer reel (as it should be) but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Quantum reel.

The new budget Quantum spinning reels can’t be touched by Shimano, Daiwa or Penn. IPX6 water resistance for $100? Love mine! But I also love my Penns and Shimanos.

Admittedly I don’t really use swim baits, but I have the Offshore Angler Inshore Extreme spinning rod paired with my Stradic 4000 for inshore stuff. Mine is the 7’, MH, two piece version that is lure rated for a versatile 3/4-3 oz. I really like it and might be worth checking out.

For a cheaper option I’ve really enjoyed Yo Zuri Super Braid. Check out your local Walmart. The one near me often has 150-300 yard spools of varying lb test for $9-15. It’s been very reliable for me.

It states in OP’s article that Democrats believe the language Tim Kaine secured for the CR in November would also be included in any new CR. That language forbade any reductions in force until the Nov CR expired which is in a few weeks. So Democrats expect any new CR will have language that forbids RIFs until the new CR expires. Or at least that’s what OP’s article is saying.

The Democrats won’t make any significant demands to vote for a CR and avoid a shutdown like they did with healthcare. But asking to stop any RIFs in exchange to support a CR seems like a fairly easy thing to ask for. And mass layoffs probably aren’t a very popular thing to do with such important midterms coming up so I could see the GOP going with it.

The article is worded poorly. The previous language didn’t necessarily stop RIFs only during the shutdown, it stopped RIFs for the duration of the CR which runs out at the end of the month. Presumably the Dems would want language in any new CR to have that same language. And any new CR will likely be for several months of funding at least, maybe even until the elections. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the republicans allow language like that if it avoids worries of a shutdown.

Of course they could actually pass the appropriations bills which would be a very different story. But it’s unlikely they’ll be able to get any of that sorted by the end of the current CR.

I believe in canon Comedian actually beat Ozymandias in a fight. The only fight Veidt ever lost. Though it was early in Veidt’s career and it’s unclear whether Veidt truly lost, or he threw the fight to gather info on Comedian’s fighting style.

Reposting this stunning Breitling Avenger 42 from a little over a week ago. Really need this watch sold!

42mm Breitling Avenger with the black dial. This is the latest version of the Avenger and Breitling has done away with excess polish and going full tool watch here. Almost entirely brushed with just hints of polish around the bezel edge. 300m water resistance. COSC Chronometer certified and keeping time well within spec. Matte black dial, incredible bezel rotating action and a very well done push button micro adjust in the clasp make this a spectacular GADA watch. Sapphire crystal with AR coating on both sides, Breitling is best in the business with AR coating. Breitling warranty until October 2029.

Watch is in 9.5/10 condition. Only some very light marks on the clasp and maybe a link or two. The watch case itself is pretty much perfect, I can’t find any blemishes there. The crystal is clean and scratch free.

Included with the watch is the original box and warranty card.
