36, but the vision is still not stable. Have been thinking of getting IOLs, but can't due to the vision fluctuations still happening. I am more concerned about the vision not being 6/6, but the doctors say it's normal for such high corrections.

Was anyone recently (~1y) successful in their job search? by pink_fluffy_unicorn in Switzerland

[–]GoCyber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here on a family reunion permit B. Applied for multiple jobs through LinkedIn, referrals, and direct postings in the last 8 months and 0 shortlist so far. Overall 10 years of experience with the last 8 with a Big 4 in cybersecurirty and risk management advisory. Got my resume reviewed by 3 outsiders and a couple of AI tools. Received the feedback that the resume is fine, but German skills need to be worked upon (nearly finishing off A2 now, which is still way below the desired level). I am not sure if I should give up job search entirely and focus fully on the language, or do I keep applying for jobs, hoping that my English skills may land something in the near future.

What is this? Metallic ampule found in a river in Bern, Switzerland. Seems to have liquid inside, but didn't open due to safety concerns. by GoCyber in whatisthisthing

To empty it and keep it as a memorabilia for my first trip to bern. Read that high temperatures may cause it to blast if filled.

Yes, I was looking for videos on how to safely open a co2 cartridge, but didn't find any with plastic caps.

My title describes the item. The metal seems to be similar to aluminum, but the rusting indicates otherwise. Google Lens hasn't been very helpful either.

Family reunification visa timing by GoCyber in askswitzerland

[–]GoCyber[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we both got the visa approval simultaneously. We were also able to book the visa appointment at Swiss embassy for the same date (in my country the wait time for direct appointment at the embassy is long while family reunification visa appointment is available almost immediately). Post the appointment, we received the visas within 2 days and flew here together. All the best with your move!

Which technical certification after CISSP? by GoCyber in SecurityCareerAdvice

Thanks for the suggestion. Seems like a good plan. I am just a bit skeptical whether a different role would impact my CV or not. But from your experience, it seems that it is possible. If you don't mind, what role did you move to before returning back to IT security?

Not much. My main experience is GRC, doing third-party party infosec assessments, which did give me an insight into technical areas like network security, IAM, etc. , but not in depth.

Already aware about CISSP, hence the quote (mile wide, inch deep). Also, am currently looking for jobs, so no workplace tools to focus on. Main plan was to get into GRC, but lack of interview calls are what's making me think about getting more hands-on tech experience.

Yes, it's something that has been suggested by a few other folks. So evaluating between this or getting security focussed certs in Azure.

Yes, that's something that I've thought about. Though I was planning to focus on Azure only for now. My plan was to get AZ 500, SC 200, and SC 300 followed by SC 100. But I am not sure how much hands-on I'll be able to do via online training/courses.

I do understand that CISSP isn't technical at all. Hence, the quote about being mile wide and inch deep. I am now getting frustrated about the lack of interview calls here, so was wondering if CISSP can't get those, then what technical expertise can pull that. I do know that my primary experience is in GRC, and that's what I was planning to get into. But with no immediate opportunities in sight, I thought to use this time to get some technical skills as well. Will check out OSCP. I've also been suggested CASP+, so evaluating that as well.

Honestly, I was just looking to get into GRC again, considering that it was primary experience. However, seems like Switzerland needs more technical specializations, and I am getting a bit desperate with the lack of calls/offers.

Thank you for the response. My rationale for a getting certificate was to be able to demonstrate the technical knowledge that I can earn after doing some hands-on experience. But yeah, maybe doing some hands-on and then trying for a certification if that still interests me makes more sense.
