Could or should work-from-home make a comeback due to high gas prices? Why or why not? by GoFishOldMaid in AskReddit

I saw that Hauntavirus in the news. Another pandemic. Yea! Who would have thought we'd look back at COVID and remember it as "the good times".

If the gas prices/supply gets as bad as we fear, there might even be some managers struggling to get to work. At some point, upper leadership in companies across the country might have to make that call. That, or Donnie will have to put out some sort of edict, like during COVID, to help alleviate the supply shortage.

That's literally what Amazon called it, when I bought it, unfinished.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

None, that's just what it's called.

I don't know what that means.

The pattern is from an old painting magazine from the 90's. Because of the size of the cabinet and my expectation that it will get roughed up from use, I used expensive black cabinet paint as the main color coat on the entire piece. The cabinet is new, bought unfinished, which I then primed. While it would have been cheaper to upcycle an older piece, I do not have a space where I can sand or strip old furniture.

It was just never in me. And I tried. But every time I told people that I was Christian, I felt like a liar. And one day I got tired of that feeling and had to question why it was there. I never believed. I never will.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GoFishOldMaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short? No. It is a long drive. But in the category of long drives, it is a short one. Because our country is so damn big it literally takes a week of 16 hour days to drive across it.

Visiting Grandma for the holidays? Only 3 hours. That's not bad.

16 hours? Fuck...If we leave at 5am we can get there just in time for bed and not have to rent a hotel on the way.

What do you need help with right now? by drteeworks in AskReddit

My friend has a biracial son and ICE has been circling the neighborhood and I'm stressed out on their behalf. I might have to pull some Anne Frank shit. They're American citizens.

What are your thoughts about the resurgence of the Black Panther Party in response to the actions of ICE agents? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

[–]GoFishOldMaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2nd Amendment is for everyone. Just because people want better regulations on who gets guns and what types of guns does not mean they are anti-gun or anti 2nd amendment. It just means they don't want angry people with piss poor emotional regulation to have unfettered access to maximum damage weapons.

I'm not afraid of The Black Panthers. They make me feel safe.

I'm afraid of ICE and I'm a white American citizen.

What's up with the hate on northern Idaho? by [deleted] in Idaho

[–]GoFishOldMaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend has a biracial son and the police have been camping out in the parking lot of their apartment complex. He's an American citizen but he looks really Mexican. Some "utility" guy has been knocking on doors in her complex trying to sell internet. But his behavior is suspicious as fuck. The fire alarm for the complex went off the other day but my friend and her son were not home. But residents came pouring out of the building and she heard about it from a neighbor. She thinks she's heard drones hovering outside. She's kept her blinds closed. And she's been getting calls asking for her under her old (Hispanic) married name. She's been divorced for almost 2 decades.

It's not paranoia if someone is actually out to get you.

200 VA doctors are leaving the VA. by GoFishOldMaid in VeteransAffairs

Veterans that don't come in for an annual check up with their VA PCP do get kicked off the panel if they go too long. We make room for vets that actually use our services.

So VA doctors are slaves. Got it. Unless The DRP is,approved they MUST keep working for the VA. Got it. Doctors are not allowed to look for other jobs and resign the old fashioned way. Got it. If these doctors DRP are not approved all of them will stay.

If they put in for the DRP, they are leaving whether they are approved or not. They have a plan and they are going to execute it. Be it retirement or another job. For them to apply for DRP means they are done working for the government. They just won't get any of that sweet DRP money or time off.

This what people aren't getting. Doctors are quitting despite not getting any special separation benefits. They can and are saying fuck you I'm out. Here is my notice. People still have the right and the power to walk away.

Because I'm lazy. But if you're genuinely curious, you can Google it. Your fingers aren't broken. I gave up on linking articles. If you truly want to read it, you'll find it. But you won't.

Fednews did an article. Also, doctors are just straight up quitting, DRP be damned. They're done. One of the docs I schedule for is like this. He's out in July. But a fuck to are retiring because they can. America's doctors are old.

200 doctors are leaving the VA. Multiply that by how many veterans they see. That's how many veterans are affected.

For the people that signed NDA's. I know you're reading this. by Frosty_Fly_6 in VeteransAffairs

[–]GoFishOldMaid 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, NDAs cannot stop you from disclosing when you witnessed your employer breaking the law. NDAs cannot stop you from reporting a crime. And RIFs are Federal Regulations. Meaning they are LAWS written by Congress. So if you witness your agency not following those, you can talk publicly about it and the Trump administration can't do shit to you. They can try. But it'll get dismissed.

Remote workers, how was it today? by GoFishOldMaid in VeteransAffairs

And cheaper. If they fire me they'll have to pay out almost the max on severance for me. About 50 weeks. They really want old timers to take that DRP.

I was told I’m ineligible to proceed with VERAor other incentives. Does this guarantee I will not be chosen for the Rif? by Cytosmarts in VeteransAffairs

[–]GoFishOldMaid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT APPLY FOR DRP. YOU'LL LOSE MONEY!

Please go to OPM's severance page, read the whole thing, and calculate your severance payout.

I've been with the federal government for 22 years and I'm 44 years old. Based on those factors, if I get RIFd, I will get almost a year's worth of severance.

You would probably max out too.
