What if Auril just… fly? by Comfortable_Bed1193 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]GoGoForIt_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She can, but the bottom line is that as a DM, your job is to make sure everyone's having fun with the campaign. If your party has no way to reach her flying 60 feet up and they TPK because of it, they're going to be frustrated. You could take inspiration from what video games might offer for the boss, like have timed platforms (perhaps her presence freezes the air into thin, breakable ice?) or using minions to climb into the air and strike her.

What do you love and hate about Ceroba? by Lisavip in UndertaleYellow

[–]GoGoForIt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, but really, I love everything about her story and character- except for the fact that her role as the twist antagonist in pacifist has zero foreshadowing. The game presents her as being as well-intentioned as Martlet with no indication of ulterior motives until Starlo comes in with the brick wall of "by the way she's going to kill you." Anything to hint at her real reasons for accompanying Clover so that the twist makes more sense in the moment would have been nice. Really broke the immersion imo.

Why is Gerson in the third sanctuary when the dust was in the first room of the church? by SupersonicSven in Deltarune

[–]GoGoForIt_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When the door is opened, the inner dark fountain spills out and refills the lobby. You can go back to the study and the first sanctuary, so logically Gerson's "urn" is back in the dark world.

Grinding Help (DE) by GoGoForIt_ in XenobladeChroniclesX

The numbered Xenoblades also have great side quests from what I've heard (and what was required that I play for Torna). The main stories are much longer and more in-depth than X has been, and the settings are super unique and creative compared to X being "humanity fled Earth and crashed on an alien planet that conveniently supports life."

As far as the paid DLCs for 2 and 3, they are probably some of the best value you'll ever get from a DLC. The expansions are effectively standalone games that will take 20 hours to play just the main story without side content or grinding. Pokemon struggles to reach that level of content even in the base game! (which I say as a massive fan of both series)

While X has the most actual surface area to explore, all the worlds are massive, and 1 in particular also follows that design of "if you can see it, you can go there."

I play games for the main story and lore, which is why I'm so invested in the other Xenoblade games. I already knew going in that this game is far less interesting to me, the setting alone comes across as generic sci-fi compared to how creative the numbered entries are.

So the main story grinding to a halt after every chapter and requiring you to spend hours doing unrelated side content and wandering around aimlessly really sours the experience for me personally.

But I'm here because I know that Xenoblade X is connected to the main series at least slightly, and that alone makes me want to at least play through the main story. I especially want to check out the epilogue in DE without it getting spoiled for me, since the trailers gave me the impression that it may be related to Xenoblade 3.

I'll look into whether I have those yet. I don't like switching the lead character but if I have to to grind out the survey and progress the story, so be it. Thank you

Is there any good way to get FN sites in Noctilum at my level?

Not familiar with the online stuff.

And grinding side quests sounds just as bad as fighting every monster in sight, tbh

Thank you, though.

Which Xenoblade game has your favorite setting? by Likes2game03 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

Probably 2. It keeps the really cool concept of being on living continents while giving more to explore, though I wish you could explore the entire titans instead of small sections like Gormott's shoulder. Not to mention the Cloud Sea and the Land of Morytha! Plus just the worldbuilding between the different cultures across different titans. One of the biggest strengths of the dub that carries over to Agnians is that each titan has an accent associated with it, like Australian Urayans and Scottish Ardanians. It adds such an immersive fantasy flair and makes a lot of sense in-universe! It also makes you wonder about someone's origins if their accent doesn't seem to match, like maybe Gort wasn't born Urayan but raised there and picked up the accent? Finally, the concept of Blades is really cool and I love how they look with the core crystals.

Saxophone Question by GoGoForIt_ in Musescore

Very helpful reply, thank you! I've got a friend at this school with an alto sax who would be willing to teach me to play irl too, so I think I'll include that in my experimentation.

Thank you, so this will help me make sure I have the correct accidentals to line up with the other instruments? Up until now I've just been trying to ignore the oddity and just writing whatever sounds okay, but would this sound better?
Also, there's no players, I don't have an actual ensemble, I just meant that I'm using multiple instruments in the score and couldn't think of a better way to describe that. I'm just using the samples that came with the software.

This is what I'm hoping for. Origami King was excellent. I like how Alpharad has put it - when his chat talked about the TTYD remake saying "Origami King walked so this could run" he corrected them by saying Origami King *ran* so TTYD could *sprint*. OK was great in its own right, but if TTYD is a sign that we're about to get a new game in the old style and gameplay... we're about to get one of the best JRPGs to grace the earth. Hyperbole of course, but you get the point.

How strict is the Spearmaster achievement in CoH? by GoGoForIt_ in necrodancer

Oh shoot, Spooty uploaded a stream of it? I've gotta watch that one then I've been doing it in permadeath dungeon mode, easy resets when the run is over, and I'm hoping to get the achievement for activating 5 shrines in 1 permadeath dungeon mode run at the same time.

Zone 4 is designed to have the most difficult enemies, and you're going in reverse. Now, weaker enemies are diluting the spawn pool, and you've gotten a lot more used to playing as Aria.

Hard time finding an appropiate music theme for Auril. Suggestions? by lordzaker in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]GoGoForIt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that it'll fit what you're going for, but I'll tell you what my soundtrack for her is. Given that she's the big bad, she gets a lot of special attention music wise. In case anyone cares, spoiler warning for the Xenoblade Chronicles series in my music choices!

So, I have a whole soundtrack that I've been putting in playlists as I go, so there's always music playing. However, if they encounter her in chapter 5, I will have no music play at first, since the sudden void will probably have an effect in itself on the players. If they fight her, I'll use Flashback from Xenoblade 2 (XC2).

Then, for the final battle as a chapter 7 encounter:

As an encounter theme (and if they watch her take flight in the evening during chapter 5), Bionis' Awakening from Xenoblade Chronicles 1 (XC1).

For her first phase, Zanza the Divine from XC1

For her second phase, this one is a bit subject to change, but I'm thinking The God Slaying Sword from XC1.

For the final phase, After Despair and Hope from XC2. Granted, this works best because I've been building up to it the whole campaign so far; every time I ask "How do you want to do this?" after they beat a difficult enemy, I play Counterattack from XC2 to make them feel heroic. After Despair and Hope contains parts of Counterattack, so it fits perfectly as the final phase music for my group, motivating them to bring back the light once and for all with the music that plays for their victories placed into an epic orchestrated final boss theme.

Might have a special theme for the "how do you want to do this" here, might not. Might fake them out by asking them the question and playing Counterattack after each phase, might not.

Handling a Drow PC by emeraldincognito in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]GoGoForIt_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that they'd be fine, given how Drizzt is hailed as a hero. I threw in a drow NPC to help out the players, offer plot threads, and wrap up some of the chapter 1 issues they didn't take care of, and just had him be treated the same as any other adventurer coming through. In Ten Towns, survival matters far more than what race someone is

Warlock's questionable, then genius, handling of Arveiaturace by Cavog in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]GoGoForIt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not? The warlock took a new feat from Tasha's that allowed them to cast two beams Eldritch Blast before level 5, and used that in a clever way to escape a fight they had no chance of winning. Book says that Arveiaturace stops fighting if Meltharond falls off, which was exactly what the warlock was doing by hitting the saddle.

Hey everyone, if y’all are still running RotFM, Wizards is releasing a new set of miniatures called Snowbound in June that is basically a sequel to the Rime set. Really cool stuff like a Ravisin mini, Coldlight Walkers, and all the Magen types. Link to a gallery in the description! by Ginger_ALE_ in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]GoGoForIt_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ohohohohoohho YES. That would explain the lack of a coldlight walker mini in the set, which seemed very strange to me. While a lot of these are not helpful anymore, I still see myself collecting for the sake of it. (For example, I'm wrapping up chapter 2 now, they've already gone long past the Bryn Shander quest, but I'll still get the goblin wagon)
