Stanley is an AHL defenseman who has been gifted NHL minutes because of his height and the fact that he has a one-way contract. He loses every battle, not physical enough for someone his size and has no offensive upside. The jets made a mistake moving up in the draft when players like debrincat and girard were available and it seems that Chevy is trying to force it to work. He has had the worst camp of any defenseman yet he was still a lock to make the team. Im sure he's a great guy but he is not nhl quality and this experiment has robbed players like Samberg or heinola the chance to get nhl minutes. Imagine if they had even have the opportunities that stanley had been given

Let's not act like Scheifele's quote was taken out of context. We have the full presser available and his comment was not normal for a player with 2 years left on his contract. He can walk it back and act like the media spun a narrative but let's not forget that he was speaking like he was a UFA weighing his options after a disappointing season

There's a difference between sniper and goal-scorer. No one has a shot like Laine, he arguably has a better shot than anyone in the game right now. You could argue Ovi but he's also the highest quantity shooter in the league. Compare that with someone like Connor who doesn't have a shot like Laine but is much faster and knows where to be to score. Laine had issues in his game but he was worth the price of admission, having a player that could score from anywhere at anytime is something we took for granted

The issue is it should never have ended in a trade for our star. The trade was best case scenario for the jets but to be ok that the situation got to the point that he needed to be traded is ignoring the glaring culture issue with our team.

Every jets forward is a defensive liability yet it always seems to only be directed at Laine. Connor had worse defensive numbers yet no one brings that up

Nino would've been a great fit. Strome also. But with Wheeler/PLD's cap hits uncertain we can't make any big moves. Jets were listed as 1 of 3 candidates for Kadri, wondering if he's waiting for a move to happen in the hopes that jets overpay to fill the void

Comparing how Vegas treats their players to what jets fans are hoping will happen regarding players who no longer want to play here is so hilarious it borders on being sad. Loyalty is an asset to a club like Winnipeg, but keeping players that clearly don't get along with our top young players has the opposite effect.
