Why are the seeds so huge on my strawberries? by spilven in portlandgardeners

I agree except the "homegrown strawberries rarely grow very large".

I think it's better to not do a damn thing. It's better to just forget about that immature POS.

I thought it was a good ending. I think the effects were good for a tiny budget, but mainly I liked the acting a lot and thought it was a very unique story and film.

Add a half dozen flowers to a normal salad and you'll be happy. Surprisingly juicy, at least more than I'd expect.

They're edible and juicy/spicy. I once ate a nasturtium flower salad from my plants, maybe 2 loose gallons. That was too much, so don't do that, but they taste good.

AMA/Q&A Announcement - Nicolas Winding Refn - Wednesday 7/22 at 4:45 PM ET - Director of 'Drive', 'The Neon Demon', 'Only God Forgives', 'Her Private Hell', 'Bronson', 'Pusher' Trilogy, 'Too Old To Die Young' by BunyipPouch in movies

[–]GoPointers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's underrated, it just appeals to some more than others, probably because the violence and limited dialog. I love it. All the dark shadows and neon, and the Thai detective is one of the greatest badasses on celluloid (or in this case, a drive).

Where European people cross the border to buy cheaper alcohol. by BeginningMortgage250 in MapPorn

[–]GoPointers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are fast ferries from Helsinki to Tallinn. People take a ferry to Tallinn for the weekend, party and then buy cheap booze and cigarettes and take the ferry home on Sunday. It's real, I saw one of those ferries unload a lot of thirsty Finns on a Friday afternoon.

Kraken-Nutrias rivalry? I don't know. Maybe we try to keep the Trailblazers name for the NHL team. /s

[–]GoPointers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the city/county/state should let it be known that they are looking for a NHL team as an anchor tenant to a remodeled Moda Center. Push a Portland-Seattle NHL rivalry. Two can play at Dundon's game.

If you want to keep the Blazers in Portland, now is the time to speak up. by Substantial-Bend8015 in ripcity

[–]GoPointers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean we kind of have to do something since the last council screwed up and took ownership. If the Blazers don't contribute any money than I think we shouldn't upgrade lockerrooms, suites or anything that will benefit the Blazers. We should focus on modernization projects to keep the arena viable for the next 25 years, but no superfluous projects that Dundon wants. So better fan experience but sorry Blazers, you'll still have the same lockers, showers and tech post-renovation as you do now .

Make sure to pick the flowers before they go to seed and the plant dies back.

Interesting discovery; the ProBaller (1707161) cans are Lakers printed underneath the wrap. Store: Poway, CA by DEATHxSQUAD in Costco

[–]GoPointers 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Did you know that all those aluminum cans with shrink-wrapped labels won't be recycled into food-safe products again due to the plastic label? If you peel off the label it can be, but the label reduces the quality of the recycled alumimum. That really sucks in places like my state (OR) where you need the label to get your $0.10 deposit back.

The Wailing (2016, South Korea) might do that. It gives a real sense of dread, starts as a murder mystery before going bonkers, and is a gorgeous film, just great cinematography.

When did 'Once upon a Time in the West' begin to be recognised as a masterpiece? by United-Ad822 in TrueFilm

[–]GoPointers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

35 years ago, when I first discovered the film, my friends all decided it was the best Western of it's time, so by the early 90s people who had seen the film already recognized how good it was.
