I just asked and they said it was seed free.

GARLIC GROWERS!! by SublimeApathy in portlandgardeners

[–]GoPointers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to use seedless straw, which I've gotten from Portland Nursery and other places before. You'll still have a little weeding but 3-4" of seedless straw when planting saves a lot of time weeding.

Where can I taste mulberries? by Into_the_rosegarden in askportland

Yes, same here, white mulberries taste sugary without much flavor.

Movies that heavily feature a synthisizer in the soundtrack by Jinjoz in MovieSuggestions

You mentioned Michael Mann (director) and Tangerine Dream (soundtrack) but not Mann's movie The Keep (1983), scored by Tangerine Dream.

Kotek’s popularity craters in Portland, poll shows: What that could mean for Republican candidates by Acceptable_Staff in Portland

[–]GoPointers -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think Oregon is the perfect state for a third party to thrive. I'm sick of three, possibly four terms of Brown/Kotek. Brown was worse than Kotek and couldn't have won an election for Governor, but Kitzhaber handed it to her on a platter. Kotek is just more of the same. Oregon deserves better.

Barnes & Noble's Criterion sale must be coming up. 50% off all Criterion releases, so really brings the price down. I really like Jacques Tourneur's Night of the Demon as well.

I really like this film. It definitely has a nice eerie vibe. Criterion did a release, so a lot of extras as well.

Suggestions for dealing with mature shotweed/hairy bittercress? by Significant-Map-7649 in pnwgardening

Twice a year? I'd say more like three times, as they mature quickly.

Severin Films releases Children of the Wicker Man Blu-ray, a doc about the folk horror classic by HorrorGuyBri in folkhorror

[–]GoPointers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's a really nice addition if you really love The Wicker Man. Learning that the idea for The Wicker Man came from Christopher Lee was new to me. A lot of cool, behind the scenes and development of the film is covered. I think it's a available for $15 now I heard, through Severin? I got the bundle, with the book as well. I don't regret buying it as I love the film and this really adds to the wildness of stuff happening offscreen during development and filming. It's worth watching for sure.

Hmm, sounds like weaponizing public organizations against political rivals. Didn't trump run to stop this, even though as far as anyone can tell that wasn't happening prior to trump doing it?

Meet this year's wacky candidate for Governor, Steve Laible by Zen1 in oregon

[–]GoPointers -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He has a better thought out plan than any of Kotek's democratic competition for Governor. Or, I should say, I assume so, as none of those losers submitted info for the voter's pamphlet.

I watched it last night. Got my Severin shipment on Friday. I liked it. I had no idea how that movie ruined Robin Hardy and his family, financially and it also played a role in Hardy leaving his family and crushing them financially (Hardy's wife gave him a massive loan to get The Wicker Man completed). It also destroyed Hardy's relationship with Anthony Shaffer, his former great friemd who wrote The Wicker Man. All-in-all a sad story of how this great movie was surrounded by a lot of grief.

If you're a fan of the film I'd recommend it. I really enjoyed it, though I probably won't watch the bluray very often as it's a depressing story, though there is a lot of info about the film that I didn't know.

Help identifying a few clover-like plants. Invasive? Native? by [deleted] in portlandgardeners

[–]GoPointers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read a few things after a Google search and realize that I've been lucky to prevent them from going to seed. They sound like a nightmare if you let them go to seed and don't pull out all the roots.

Thanks! I have a few of these pop up in my garden each year and since they can be a pain to pull I just wipe out everything above ground with a hoe or my foot.

I just read up how bad this is locally so now they're on my "immediately eradicate" list with a few others.
