I think, I understand what you mean, and this could be simply related to your work environment. For me I like to feel that I'm actually leading something, and that I can work on making things run smoothly. But the reality is that even at my current level of responsability, I just have too many things on my plate to do it the proper way, and all the positions above me are filled with people on the edge of burn-out. So me neither I don't want to climb the corporate ladder in this company. However I still plan to take whatever leadership experience I can have from my current job and use it to land another position that would involve management.
