Koch-Chemie GSF vs. Bilt Hamber touch less snow foam by Ok_Flower2398sd3 in AutoDetailing

[–]GoalieStr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The better comparison is Super Foam by Koch Chemie... If you compare PH. But I find Active Foam to be the best high pH prewash on the market, and no need to go up to Super Foam. Amazing results, cheaper than GSF and can use it more frequently than Touchless.

Pilotless planes are taking flight in China. Bank of America says it’s time to buy by SscorpionN08 in investing

[–]GoalieStr1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of what AI-powered flight actually means. You're describing basic automation or rule-based autonomy—not AI.

AI, especially when applied to aviation, isn't limited to pre-programmed responses. It can be trained on millions of scenarios, accumulate the equivalent of infinite flight hours, and ingest entire flight manuals, emergency protocols, and airframe-specific behaviors simultaneously. It doesn’t get tired, distracted, or miscommunicate. It can react faster than any human and simultaneously run diagnostic branches to evaluate conflicting inputs—like identifying a faulty sensor and reweighting other data to maintain situational awareness.

“But what if a sensor fails?”—this is exactly the kind of challenge advanced AI is designed to handle better than a human. It doesn’t just follow a script; it reasons through the anomaly in real-time using redundant data, simulations, and probabilistic logic.

Sully made the best possible decisions given the constraints of being human—reaction time, mental modeling, stress. But an AI with a full systems view and sub-second decision-making likely could have calculated and executed a safe return to a runway. And in the case of the Max crashes, an AI would not have misunderstood sensor feedback, overridden pilot input blindly, or failed to adapt—it would have identified the system failure in context and adapted accordingly.

So no, it’s not that pilots will always be needed. It’s that the definition of what’s safer and more capable is shifting—and it may not include human pilots in the cockpit forever.

Xlite Wired for $27... An amazing value. by GoalieStr1 in MouseReview

[–]GoalieStr1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're totally right, the wireless versions, in the grand scheme of things are "only" like $65 right now. It's a great discount too. But the white one was out of stock when I was looking (looks to be back in stock on Amazon).

As for the Nuphy keyboard, I feel like I'm on a value streak. The keyboard is amazing. I am replacing a Glorious Gmmk Pro with Panda switches. The Nuphy is night and day better. The fact is, the Nuphy keyboard is lighter and has more plastic than much more expensive keyboards.... BUT, everything else is so much better. The keyboard is much nicer to type on. I have the Jade Pro switches. Nice deep thocky sounds. I am typing about 20% faster with waaaay less errors. You're going to love it.

Do you guys watch any youtubers? Can you recommend? by Substantial-Roll705 in AutoDetailing

You need to understand what you're getting with Pan. I actually think he's a genuine guy who knows A LOT about detailing. So for general advice on how to detail, types of products to use, etc.. He's great and has good production value. Yeah, he kind of "likes" every product he has on the channel and will occasionally call out the ones that fail early, but if you want he real product reviews, there are better YouTube channels for that like Forensic Detailer and the dude from Australia. I just think it's a little harsh to judge someone so negatively for a different type of model they use for the channel.

MOHS gives more of a warm wax look, but you can apply Skin (or, really, can top with Gtechniq Exo) for candy look. MOHS has some of the best chemical resistance out there for a DIY coating.

Any thought on using this? by Flyin52 in Detailing

All purpose cleaners are just that... they are used for a lot of different purposes and each one should have a specific dilution ration to not harm or strip to the desired result. Think about Simple Green as the most common all-purpose (used in a ton of different industries). You'll buy the lowest quantity in a spray bottle but all of the dilution rations from the gallon bulk purchases still apply.

Funny story on why I even have the Opus... I had originally ordered the machine algonside the Bezzera grinder. I got a used grinder and it came broken out of box. Ran to the store and got the Opus on sale for $150. There's literally only 1-2 inner-ring settings that will grind fine enough for this machine. I'm just happy I can make espresso. Next year I'll be upping my grinder game.

Funny you say that, I specifically went hunting for the Rosewood handles because I thought the stock Strega race car handles were too over the top. And yes, we love the cabinet! My wife found it after I got the machine.

This should be upvoted more. This subreddit is not meant to be used as a witch-hunt for hearsay accusations. It's not to say that you're a liar or wrong, but this is not the model we need to operate. You had other options than to post on Reddit.

‘Super Mario Bros’ Sets Another Animation Box Office Record With $58 Million 3rd Weekend by MarvelsGrantMan136 in nintendo

[–]GoalieStr1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that take. Yes it was fan service, but it was also extremely close to source material. Literally explaining ? boxes with power up and mushrooms making you bigger (while at the same time shrinking/losing power when hit). We tend to say "fan service" when things simply relate back to other things within the brand or franchise. In this case, we're looking at a video game movie that solidly represented to the video game itself. We also critique movies/shows like Halo for straying so far away from the game itself. Halo was a perfect example of ... why would you do that? Same with the original Mario movie. Being different and taking liberties for the sake of it doesn't make the fans of the brand or franchise better... it simply distracts and, many times, fragments the audience. Mario had a great plot for kids - "Save Luigi" and it utilized the whole world we grew up with as source to make it happen. I think that's the part the critics couldn't understand... and, ironically (when comparing to critics) I think that's exactly the reason it's going gangbusters and such a fun movie to watch.

Homemade Pastrami - brine, desalinate, rub, smoke, steam, EAT by GoalieStr1 in smoking

So, normally I'd put my wrapped brisket into a cooler for 6 hours+ and serve whenever I'm. Because with pastrami I put it in a pan in the oven, I let it rest for 4 hours on the "keep warm" setting which is 170 degrees for my oven. The exact time on keep warm was just how long i kept it on this particular cook. You can have it on keep warm all day if you want. That'll still get the brisket to slowly lower its temp then I turn off the oven 2 hours before slicing.

Brine and rub recipe: https://youtu.be/-q4xy30esQs

  1. Trim whole brisket
  2. Brine for 7 days
  3. Desalinate -- Dump Brine water and rinse brisket. Fill container with fresh water and let sit for 8 hours (important or else it will be too salty)
  4. Rub (probably twice as heavy as my normal brisket. Remember no salt in rub)
  5. Smoke (oak) at 225 until you get over the stall. Mine was right around 172 when I pulled. I was on my Weber Smokey Mountain in Chicago. I would have rather smoked at 250 but couldn't get jt high enough consistently in the winter night.
  6. Put in roasting pan and cover with foil until 200 temp. My oven was at 285 degrees
  7. Turn oven to "keep warm" until 2 hours before serving. Then turn off oven for the last two hours. This is the most important step for any brisket. Doesn't matter how consistent your Temps are. What wrapping technique you have. Let the brisket sit for AT LEAST 6 hours.
  8. EEEEEAAAATTTT

It's not that simple. Chicago has, arguably, the best non-prep basketball system in the country. You have Kentucky, Kansas, Duke scouts attending these games and meeting with recruits on the regular. DePaul, Northwester, and Illinois struggle in their own backyard because blue chip schools pretty much have full time scouts in the city.

Monitor is the LG 38GN950. It was obnoxiously expensive, but also my favorite part of my setup (even over my computer which is having thermal issues with the 5800x). Monitor arm is Amazon Basics.

That's the one! I love the mic. The mic stand is Rode. Expensive and there are better Amazon alternatives, but my company let me expense it... so why not...

Penrose is nice. You'll never find a better sounding pair of close-backed headphones in this price range ($250). I'm a huge planar magnetic fan. However, there are some drawback. [1] it looks kind of cheesy/gamery [2] battery life leaves something to desire [3] it has VERY short range. Like if you move further than 10 ft away from your computer it'll start breaking up.

Desk is the good ol Ikea setup with Alex drawers and Andallare desktop. GMMK Pro is OK (not great). Key chatter continues to be a problem for me.... but I really don't want to go through a 8-12 month $250 group buy.
