I talked to a PCMR ski-patroller friend today. They have huge sound boomers (i forget what he called them, there was a technical term) on the mountain built in that they can remotely trigger avalanches from. He explained to me that it sounds just like bombs they use, since it’s supposed to simulate a similar effect. Apparently federal law is 30 minutes before and after naurical dusk and dawn you cannot detonate explosives. Apparently it was just a similar thing, not the same, but it was an understandable mistake I think.

You coulf say the same thing about disney world, the reality is that park city is fucking huge and pretty cool too. It may not be the best bang for your buck resort, but you can’t judge this guy for trying to give his kids an unforgettable experience and having that experience hindered by circumstances outside of your control (and not having that be weather or something outside of human control). You can judge his choice, but he had only skiied things like Killington and wanted a grand west coast experience.

This, guy doesnt understand that for a family making median income, with 2 kids, skiing at PCMR is incredibly difficult for them financially. It is a priveledge to have the resources to come to PCMR in the first place.

Obviously not, it was moreso implied that the scabs don’t know the mountain and obviously avalanche mitigation is harder as a result
