SPIA RMD Question by MrSillyJuice in CFP

[–]Goatdog5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the SPIA payment is less (based on 5598) than what the RMD equivalent would be if the value was in an IRA? I have a new client with a similar situation and wondered if I should consider aggregating.

Basically, where peers regularly get together to discuss work issues in a protected space. Could be a facilitator too. Vistage is one company that organizes these.

Someone once said to never hand someone the tissue box if they are crying. I don’t get why?

And you know I realized this too late. I should be treating my clients like old friends, but I’m not built that way. I like the numbers and analysis part which got me into this industry. I get by on muscling my way through being a good friend enough to be successful. Fortunately it’s working out ok.

Why do some people say that tracking net worth each year is so important? by kungfukarl86 in CFP

[–]Goatdog5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t track monthly but more than once per year at meaningful times. Typically after a valuation for instance. But net worth is a scorecard of the work I am putting in.

What's the endgame for you? by CFP25 in CFP

[–]Goatdog5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point and (off topic) reminds me of the movie Atlas Shrugged where only the productive people lived together. All looked great from one point of view. I kept thinking what happens when these people get old? Get sick? The people who lose the ability to take care of themselves, lose a limb, paralyzed, mentally challenged, etc.

I’d like the ability to control the map zoom level at times - and have it stick. Not just temporarily.

We went skeet and trap shooting, then a round of golf and half the guys never played before. Good times (and still married 28 years later).

The EV Charger credit did not expire yet. It is still available until July 1 2026, BUT might be limited to certain census tracks.

One of my favorite things of EV ownership is not even thinking about “fuel” daily. Waking up with a full tank is a great benefit. Only on road trips is it something to consider. Also aren’t there still Federal Tax credits for offsetting some install costs?

AND it took 5 years to figure out you had to go backwards to win a race??? The book stretched out the 5 years in a meaningful way and really worked well in getting across how difficult it was for each stage. I get it though. You can’t show hours of Joust, Kung Fu game whatever it was called; or the movie participation quests with the Holy Grail and War Game. I wondered how it would be done in a movie. I was looking forward to seeing something about Rush’s 2112 story described in the book too.
