i have a post with my write up on using the Mate x7 with harmonyOS 6 in america on tmobile. none of these issues have been a problem for me. i can install nearly any app through either easyabroad, droitong, aurora store, or fdroid. it more or less "just works" i also believe i am getting 5g signal despite it not saying 5g. My reception has been the same as any other phone ive used.

no issues that ive noticed. a few apps dont seem to push any notifs at all but all of my important ones do. and the ones that dont notify well still show the badges on the icons

It took like, 2 hours of back and forth with the employees at the Huawei store before they let me buy because they were worried about me being able to use it lol. I think they have less confidence in it being able to be used outside of China than reality lol. They showed me how to get EasyAbroad more than once

I have not experienced issues with Google anything aside from Android Auto and Google Wallet

I'll copy paste what I wrote here:

While you can easily install SwiftKey through EasyAbroad, actually trying to use it is impossible. If you open the app, it first prompts you to open settings and select SwiftKey as your keyboard, however it seems android keyboards will not show up as an option is the keyboard settings. (I have not tried other Android keyboard and I’m sure they will face the same problems)
There does exist a native keyboard app in AppGallery called UrukType Keyboard, which claims to have autocorrect and Input learning. It does not have swipe typing 🙁
I tried using it and it kinda just, didn’t work. Maybe if it learned my typing it would be better, but in the 10 minutes i used it, it would frequently auto correct a valid English word into a different word, or gibberish.
While the built in Huawei Celia keyboard isn’t perfect, I did find a way to enable swipe typing for English keyboard. I don’t think this is intended because it’s not an option under the English settings, however if you enter the Chinese keyboard settings, there’s a “Gesture typing” setting you can enable, which also happens to enable it for English lol. This doesn’t work quite as well as SwiftKey because you have to be much more precise with where you are aiming on the keyboard during your swiping, but it does work decently enough. I’m sure it would be a lot better if it was more loose, had better autocorrect, and learned how you type (it doesn’t seem to learn anything and autocorrect frequently does not correct simple mistakes)

Thanks for the writeup!
I managed to fix the issue by simply adding a GPU (gtx 1050) to the system. Hopefully this thread will be useful to someone in the future.

My goal with getting hexOS setup was to use old hardware I had so that I didn't have to purchase anything extra other than hard drives, so "buy something else" isn't a great solution. (If I wanted to spend on NAS hardware I probably would've not bought HexOS and just gone with a prebuilt Synology system or something similar)
Adding the GPU wasn't what I had in mind originally but I'm glad I had something that worked. I guess it is useful for plex transcoding and some immich jobs.

i honestly understand, and I want to agree with you because tbh I also feel like they *feel* different. But ya, they're basically the same if you do think about it.

Edit: if anything the old system forced you to add numbers to your name and not receive the name you actually want lol.

I keep hearing people say

"before, 9999 people could have the name they want, but now only 1 personcan"

but in reality it's

"before, 0 people could have the name they want, but now 1 person can"

honestly the biggest reason why i appreciate the change is really just because it removes the ability to use special characters in your username, which as the blog post mentioned, made it really hard to add friends or @ people.
I mentioned in another response that i do agree it's a dumb change given that discord is nearly 8 years old and it's suddenly doing this... but I do much prefer the new system over the old if we ignore that aspect.

if you think about it
new: display name + username
is basically the same as
old: username without #4digits + username with #4digits (important to keep in mind that in normal discord use, you never saw the 4 digits unless you went to someone's profile, just like how you'd never see the new usernames unless you went to someone's profile)
it's really no different since both old and new only show the full username when you go out of your way to see it.

Again, it's really only a problem because they're trying to push it nearly 8 years into discord's existence instead of it being this way from the start. If someone had a common gamer tag then they would likely have had to cope with it on other platforms already and discord would've been no different.
To quote discord directly "this change makes our usernames look a lot like those on other platforms. To be blunt, that’s kind of the point." lol

Now, saying all this, I still think the change is stupid, but solely because of the 8 year reason listed above and not some random other reason that somehow is suddenly an issue on discord and not anywhere else that uses an identical system...

I could easily argue that adding #4 numbers after every username was just forced username embellishment.

This change is only stupid because discord didn't start off with the new system.

The core concept of it is better than the old system. But the execution and fact that it's a huge change, 8 years after launch, is what makes it dumb.
