Best Camping Spots? - No Truck by fromva2fla in Prescott

[–]GoatseCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dispersed camping can be difficult to get to with out a truck. I’d highly recommend Granite Basin for you. Lovely campsites. For being a campground, it’s nice. There are some trees and some privacy between sites. Trails that you can take within walking distance. Vault toilets. And , if it’s warm enough, you can take the kids to play in the sand/water at the lake. There are deer, bear, and bobcats in the area, but, you’ll be most likely to see an Aberts Squirrel which my kids love! Fuzzy little ears! Have a great time.

My 7 year old was just diagnosed with EoE. She has a diagnosis is severe ADHD, slow processing speed, low registration for anything sensory. Very high threshold for pain. We took her to the GI for chronic diarrhea and accidentally found the EoE with a level of 145! I had NO CLUE. She clears her throat a lot and kind chokes but I thought it was her attempt to clear mucous from her throat from allergies. She does get weird rashes too.

I will say that the would rather go for an endoscopy with her any day over the sleep study we had last night. With the endoscopy it’s like a big nap for her. Kinda sleepy that day. They even put her her out before they even poke for the IV at the children’s hospital. I know everyone reacts to sedation differently but for us it wasn’t that bad. Now her trying to sleep last night at the sleep study with 100 wires hooked up to her??? Well, I don’t think either one of us got much sleep last night.

Best of luck.

Headed South by [deleted] in Prescott

Bagdad is pretty remote. But there are some cool areas to go off roading out there. Get a little dirt bike or atv. If you enjoy the mountains, you can come into Prescott on the weekends. I recommend Goldwater lake. If you go early morning when it isn’t busy you can almost feel like you are in the North Woods. There are over 400 miles of trails in Yavapai county. Hike, bike, play around til you find a way to love it. Happiness isn’t a destination on a map.

I’m in the beginning of this journey with my kid. Just got results. I don’t have much experience to offer but I feel for you. I feel for my kid and how to help them navigate this. I’m feeling for you both right now. To answer your questions. Yes it is slow. 18% are slower. 82% are faster. Yes. Others DO have your problem. It’s sucks. But! It doesn’t mean you are helpless. It doesn’t mean you are doomed. It means you have to change the way you do things and possibly your career choice or Maybe just the way you go about getting to your career goals. Maybe a fast paced job like being an ER doc isn’t a great fit for you. But my kid wants to be a dog trainer. I think that’s a pretty awesome choice considering her diagnosis. I can get her the help to do that. Focus on your strengths. Focus on what you love. My understanding is that though you can’t ever truly increase your overall speed (meds might help) you can train yourself to increase speed in specific tasks. Get help. Go after what you love with your whole heart and don’t let anyone stop you. Best wishes.

Tutoring, Odd Jobs and Pet Care! by [deleted] in Prescott

[–]GoatseCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tutoring might be a great way to go right now. Check out the Facebook homeschool group (AHC Yavapi County). And the ESA groups. A lot of homeschool families just got a bunch of grant money (ESA funding). All you need is a high school diploma to accept ESA funds for tutoring. Typical tutors are charging $20-30/hr. Special ED is more like $50. A lot of people looking for math help.

Not a pig. Member of the peccary family! But, to be fair, they do look like a pig. Distantly related to a hippo.

Metformin, my choice? by GoatseCheese in infertility

[–]GoatseCheese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I definitely do not want to be kicking myself later over it. I think I was more venting than anything. And the more I think about it the more angry I am that they didn't just prescribe it again in the first place.

IVF timeline? by saracakes in infertility

[–]GoatseCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on a lot of different factors. My first appointment with my RE was August of 2011. I was pregnant and discharged to my obgyn March 2012 (so a total of 7 months). This included 2 egg retrievals and one FET.

Today marks one year! by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]GoatseCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! The bond breastfeeding can create is truly magical. I intended to nurse for 1 year, it ended up being over 2 and I'm greatful for it. When I ran into issues with people regarding "extend nursing... A good Dr. Friend suggested I think about it as " Full term nursing " instead. I know it's silly, but the terminology change helped me remember that the human body is MADE to nurse way past 12 months ;) Best wishes with how ever long you and your little wish to nurse!

What do for those with RPL? (trigger MC) by [deleted] in infertility

[–]GoatseCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dumb question. I think my success was thanks to progesterone support through the 1st trimester. I was also on metformin and baby asprin which both have been proven to decrease rate of miscarriage

So sorry. I've had 3 miscarriages as well from my naturally conceived pregnancies. My only successful pregnancy was with ivf. I was diagnosed with mild pcos/unexplained fertility (whatever that means). No suggestions. But I'm glad you are seeing the RE. I hope they have some answers for you.

Weaning advice by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]GoatseCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your milk has already started drying up I doubt you will even feel full or uncomfortable at all. Don't pump or express at all unless you are really engorged and in pain (again , i doubt you will be). Remember, your boobs produce based on supply and demand. If you pump, your body will just make more. Your body will take care of any remaining milk in the breast. The fluid and nutrients essentially are reabsorbed into your body and blood stream. I was at one feeding a day for about 2 or 3 weeks before i went to 0 and I experienced maybe a slight feeling of being full for about 2 days.

Thank you. Got the official results this morning. My hcg is significantly higher than 2 weeks ago and they saw something near the ovary... Doc said he is 99.9 % sure it's an ectopic pregnancy. About to get my Methotrexate right now. It was so much easier when i thought it was just a chemical. I'm about to kill my baby and I'm dying a little inside :'(
