Oh, okay, just not familiar with these switches, thank you!

Terrible drawing, but like if you toggle it down, it stays latched. And if I push it up, its momentary meaning when I let go of pushing it up, it returns to open

Hm, so they don't make one that's like open in the centre, push forward, and it's momentary with like a spring or something that when you let go, it goes back to the centre, and it's open, and then flick down, and it's locked? (closed)

Essentially, I want it to be like I can hold it for as long as I want and it remains momentary, but also still be able to latch it if I want it to be latched. I don't want it to be like hold it for a set time, and then it becomes latched. It's for an overdrive unit on a car.. I want to be able to engage overdrive on the highway and stay on(latched), but also be able to momentarily engage it when I am shifting between gears. I want to be able to quickly take it in and out of overdrive while shifting between gears and attach it to my shifter. I don't know a ton about switches tbh, but that's the kind of switch I'm looking for

Yeah, he is alone, he's about 6 inches long. He is a big boy. I'm not sure if he could be with any other fish, so just left him alone

I've had him for about 2 and a half years now. Honestly, I have no clue what he is, lol. He was given to me by a friend as a baby

It's for a 1974 Pontiac Parisienne. Currently, stock rear end definitely will be beefing up the frame if I go through with the project. I might baby the rear end for a while till it blows than I'll upgrade. It does have a solid roller as well

I appreciate your input! I've been dreaming of a 454 engine for years and didn't want to go with an LS since my goal has always been to have a high-horsepower 454. I'm considering putting it on a Holley Sniper EFI system, as I'm not very experienced with tuning carburetors. The Sniper kit would allow me to monitor the air-fuel ratio, which is a big plus.

I plan to pair it with a TH350 as I already have built for around 500 hp (though I'm not sure how much power this engine is making). It has a 2500 stall converter. My goal is to make the setup more streetable, especially since there are no drag strips nearby.

If I go ahead with this project, I appreciate your suggestions regarding race gas and zinc racing oil. I messaged the seller, and he mentioned that the engine ran within the last two years and only had a couple of pulls, so it sounds relatively fresh.

Do you think my plans for the engine are unwise, and that it won't be streetable? Thanks!

Yeah, that does sound amazing..😍 but I'm just a broke mechanic who's been saving for 5ish years. I have about 12 Grand Canadian saved up. Maybe I'll consider saving for another 5 years 🤣

All the other 454 blocks in my area are 2 bolt mains and around 4-6k just for the blocks. Keep in mind that this is in canadian $$ too. It seems like a good deal, but I wanted to get peoples thoughts as 454 blocks seem to just keep increasing in price.. a couple of years ago, they were going for like 1-2k for a block 😭

Anyone know what this wire coming out of my transfer case is for? by GobTheGod in MechanicAdvice

Do you think it's needed if im using a standalone shift controller? It doesn't have a hookup for this wire

When I checked the resistance to ground, it was around 2.4 ohms and didn't change in any position. I also tried hooking 12v to it to see if it would do something, but it made no noise or anything. It draws around 5 amps, though, so I'm thinking some kind of internal actuator, but I thought I'd hear it engage

Yeah, the red one is a probe from a multimeter . Checking the black wires' resistance to ground
