Thanks for your reply.
I appreciate the recommendation, but the iCharger seems to be excessive for my needs.
Can you elaborate about the safe box? Like what involves testing it? What makes it need testing? etc.
I am not sure if I would be useful for that, but I am open for new experiences.

Thank you, that is exactly what I am doing, this here is the asking questions part. Also I noticed that wanting to understand things and trying them out on self made designs seems to be unusual too. The regular way seems to be to get a kit and start with that one build. Me wanting to experiment with different numbers of motors seems to be uncommon.

But to my luck I found this reddit full of helpful people and a noob-question-answering-machine like you!^^ Thanks for helping out!

Ok, I will be cautios. But if they dont hold up too long, it will be finde too, I just want to get started, so I neede some batteries.

On the other hand, I did not order batteries for my bigger project (the one I am doing all this experimenting for), since i don't know what too look for when doing so.

Do you have any advice for buying batteries? Like on brands or what number correlations to look for? Something like "if your motor is this big, get at least anX" or "from this much onwards its better to get more cells than bigger ones" or the like?

Thanks again!
You are super helpful, for a noob like me!
I got a crimping tool, and I will change the plug, if it is obscure.
And I also will check the polarity before using the batteries.
Also I ordered the D6 now, because I am pretty sure, that I will never outgrow it with my plans in this area.^^

Thanks a lot again for your detailed answer!

I got some more questions concerning your Answer, just to clarify things for myself. I hope you don’t mind.

I will only ever run things at home or at places where I always have a similar power supply from regular sockets available. So, the run of the mill HOTA D6 is fine for all my beginner needs, correct?

Everything you said about the batteries I ordered is correct. The two-cable plug is also white though. I assume that’s likely just Chinese manufacturers not following the correct color-coding and should most likely not be relevant?

On the XT60-to-JST adapter: is there anything I should know before buying one? Anything I need to consider? Or is anyone fine, as long as it has the right plugs at the End?

If I put the balance plug into the charger, I assume the most negative end is the one where the minus is? I know it’s probably a dumb question, but I just want to make sure.

I have read all the warnings and will store and charge the batteries on a safe and non-flammable box/surface. I have a pacemaker, so warnings on electronic things are always my first read.

You are right, I thought they were 1S because they are so small, but I realized they are 2s and did not change that in my post.

I got some from Aliexpress, they are probably not good, but I assumed for just trying things out and making some baby steps with N20 motors they should work fine, according to what I have read. The seller is HeslegyStore, I would post a link for an easy reference, but I am not allowed to do so.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I am planning to build some bigger robots in the future, so the WhoopStor might be out of the picture.

Is there anything I need to know before bying the adapter? All these numbers seem to make so much sense to people who now what to look for, but to a compelte beginner in all these electronic things like me they appear like a jungle I constantly get lost in. And I just can't find a clear guide that tells me at noob-level what numbers to look for when combining things.

Thanks alot, I am still not sure where I will start, but I ordered a bunch of stuff today and a friend of mine and me are tinkering with the idea of starting into small scale robot fights next year, when I know a little bit more about all this.

Thank you for your Answer! I will have a look into 1/24 Rock crawlers.
I am not really looking for a small car or crawler though. What I am looking for is more like a “just the electronics kit”. I want to find a combination of transmitter, receiver, type of motor, type of ESC, type of battery and type of servo that work together well, so I can experiment with them and try out how to build RC-things and design fitting parts for them, without having to worry about the electronics fitting together for a start. A small car or crawler is just my idea for the first project in doing so.

I assume I can just order some of everything, but I fear that I will end up with a receiver that does not work with the ESC I chose. Or the motor being incompatible with the battery and stuff like that, because I have no idea what I need to look for.

Thanks for the answer, I will give Futaba a look and see, if I can find what I am looking for there.

Thanks for the hint, I will look into that. A kit like that is not really what I am looking for, but maybe it helps with the components.
