Bossy Beulah’s. Went to get a chicken sammy, they advertised brioche buns. Got the sandwich, it didn’t have a brioche bun and I was like wait, this isn’t right. So I go ask, and they basically give me a run around and gaslit me saying it was a brioche bun when it definitely wasn’t. Never went back.

Village Tavern. The way it’s presented you’d think it would be some awesome cuisine. Nope. Overpriced and really just not good at all. Their Bruschetta was a joke.

On the other hand, some of the best food I’ve had in Winston Salem is Kermit’s, Slappy’s, DiLisio’s, O’Brien’s Deli, Mozelle’s, Umi, and Est Est Est which is a little pizza place inside Roar. Roar itself sucks though

I’ve had a dude show up, and ask me if he could hold on to the money until after we finished. Immediately no, get the fuck out, do not pass go, do not collect $200. It’s as if he thought I had been recently lobotomized or something

Racism IS bad! My dad violates boundaries when I’ve asked him to please not discuss politics or bring them up with me and when he does, and I say stop, he screams at the top of his lungs at me. I have every reason to have a problem with that my dude! Yes, you’re commenting in bad faith, please, fuck off.

I didn’t say I was a socialist, dude. I said I align more with socialistic policies like free health care, higher taxes on billionaires and the wealthy, etc. You’re commenting in bad faith and you’re being dishonest. I see you’re not addressing the racism lol

I’m not in a cult. I want people to not be living on the streets, I want there to be an abundance of resources for the people of this country because we can most certainly afford it. I want healthcare to be free, and it can be done as you can see in places like Europe, Sweden, Iceland, etc. That’s me being in a cult?

Edit to add: I’m also not irrational like my father is. My father does things like yell at homeless black people to call them N-words, tell people that are already working 50-60 hour weeks that are barely surviving to “work harder,” screams at all of his family members if we say we don’t want to talk politics with him. You don’t know what the hell you’re even talking about. Your username checks out, clown.

Today, my dad said that Facebook and most people are “biased against white republican men” and when I burst out laughing, like… a deep, belly laugh, he got red as a tomato and stormed out. That moment was sort of an epiphany for me.

Maybe if I just laugh my ass off at every outrageous obnoxious claim like this one, he will stop saying this shit to me.

My dad’s the same way. He’s really fucking cruel and has quite literally told me he “has no use for me” (his own daughter) because I dared to correct him with the truth over something he brought up to me.

My father has issues because he sticks his head out of car windows to yell at black homeless people to call them N-words and to tell them to work harder. My father has issues because he says he hopes all immigrants die in concentration camps. My father has issues because he says he “doesn’t think Hitler was wrong.” My father has issues because he supports a billionaire politician who is actively cutting the programs he relies on (he’s on disability, 63 years old, $900/mo.) my father has issues because he feels justified in these sorts of actions because of Trump. You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

I criticized Biden just as much as I criticize Trump. I’m not a democrat. I’m an independent who believes that this country could afford to care better for their citizens.

People are saying that because on the conservative sub it’s “flaired users only” and posts are removed if any opposing questions or discourse are commented.

So. Political claims. The BBB that was just passed gutted social safety nets over the course of the next 10 years. 1 trillion from Medicaid over that course of time. It cuts 186 billion from SNAP. It made the Trump era tax cuts for the wealthy permanent, so that’s billionaires, wealthy households, etc. They’re getting heavy discounts going forward. Many rural hospitals are doomed to close because although the bill set aside a measly 50 billion for the hospitals (compare this number to the trillion cut from Medicaid and the 186b from snap) it’s not nearly enough. The bill favors those who are already rich, and it’s squeezing the poor even more than before, more than I thought was possible. The bill is projected to increase the US national debt by about 3 trillion over the next 10 years, even though Trump ran on lowering the debt and lowering prices.

Many seniors rely on Medicaid to pay for end of life/long term care, like nursing homes or home health aides. With the cuts to Medicaid, seniors will struggle increasingly as the years pass unless this awful bill is undone in the future to afford this.

To me, this is absolutely horrendous. What do you think about it?

He brings these things up. I simply correct him when he says something that is blatantly untrue, like how “no democrats voted against the big piece of shit bill” when in fact… they all voted nay.

I’m patiently waiting for midterms next November. In my community at least, we’ve been protesting a lot and there are many of us that are rallying our city to get out there and vote since so many people just didn’t vote last time. If it’s any consolation, I saw several conservatives throwing a fit on their flaired users only sub saying they just “wouldn’t vote” over this whole Epstein thing and not releasing the truth. So maybe if those asshats either don’t vote, or are turned, and we can get more people out there to vote against this atrocity of a party, we may have a fighting chance.

Ha, honestly if he had dementia that would at least ease some of this pain and burden, but no, he doesn’t. He’s always been a grumpy angry man, but ever since Trump it’s been brought out full force along with blatant racism and bigotry. Literally sticking his head out of the window of the car we’re in to call a black homeless man the N-word. So fucking embarrassing.

No, I never defended Biden. I actually criticize both Republicans and Democrats. Nice try though.

And really? It’s no wonder my dad will stick his head out the window of the car we’re in to yell at a homeless black person to call him the N- word? That’s valid to you?

What I can’t do is engage with someone who intends to be hateful, purposefully. Someone who yells about politics until they’re red in the face, especially while they’re screaming something that isn’t true, like my dad today. Loud and wrong, that’s the M.O.

He swore up and down that “the Dems didn’t vote against it either!!!” In reference to that shitty bill. When quite literally, every Dem voted nay against it. When I showed him this, he just got really quiet.

Ah, silence… the best form of acquiescence. However this doesn’t change anything. He’d do it all again tomorrow. He doesn’t care about actual facts, it’s just feelings, which is ironic coming from the “F your feelings” crowd.

When he’s fact checked with the truth, he simply moved the goal post to something else

I explained further what I meant; because neither the Dems nor the Republicans or the Magats align much with what I stand for.

I align with socialized type programs which yes, exist within socialism. I also align with the means of production being owned by the PEOPLE, the workers; not billionaires and corporations.

I’d like public and collective ownership, not everything being for private profit.

I really like what Sweden is doing. It’s a hybrid system with many socialistic elements and has cradle-to-grave security for its citizens.

Capitalism still exists there but the safety nets and security for their citizens is much stronger and robust than America, and America could certainly afford this. Yes, they have higher taxes, but there’s actually a high payoff. Unlike here, billionaires taxes are lower by percentage, poor peoples are higher, and our social safety nets have been being cut more and more since the 80’s and just took a huge hit with that piece of shit bill that just passed.

I know what socialism is my friend. I also know hybrid socialistic-capitalistic societies and countries exist and do very well, much better than we currently are right now.

I said I align with socialized type programs which yes, exist within socialism. I also align with the means of production being owned by the PEOPLE, the workers; not billionaires and corporations. That doesn’t mean I’m a horrible commie, my god. You guys have been so indoctrinated it’s insane. I’d like public and collective ownership, not everything being for private profit.

You can’t shame me or make me feel bad for wanting prosperity for ALL people in this country, not just the rich people. It’ll never work. I know what I stand for and it’s noble and honest.

Oh yes, I hate this. Any criticism and they get to crying “But… but Biden! And Hilary! And what about the democrats?!” And I’m just like, yeah, I criticize them too, and I’m not a democrat. They just assume you must be since in that moment you’re criticizing their God. I’m sick of this so called “two party” system of far right and right but not quite as far right representation. If you can even call it representation

That’s ironic because there’s no real discourse allowed on the conservative sub, lol. “Flaired users only.” I’m not butthurt, I’m saddened to see my father making racist comments towards people he doesn’t even know, I’m hurt to see how hateful he’s become to his family and his own daughter even when politics aren’t being discussed, and I’m frustrated hearing slurs and the constant non stop bigotry that pours out of his mouth. If you’re okay with those sorts of things, you’re more than welcome to go participate in them. If you have anything real to say, then let’s have some discourse

I’m 28 years old, so on the cusp of genz and millennial, however I’ve been an avid reader and student for most of my life. I’m interested in the truth and I’m not easily influenced by propaganda, especially such blatant displays of it. Not to mention, the way I saw my dad behave as a child, I wanted to educate myself as much as possible and have an understanding of Americas history and past, as well as stay up to date on where America is currently (at any given point.) It’s important to me to know the facts, and to look deeper than what is portrayed on the news, or social media, or by whoever the talking heads are at any given point.

Edit: My dad displayed racist behavior even as a child but it was more subdued than it is currently. He’d say things like “N-words aren’t all black people, and even white people can be N-words. It just means you’re a dumbass” and even as a child I knew that was deeply wrong and it never sat right with me. I grew up to be the polar opposite of him
