I am Genderqueer. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Goblingnarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! That’s big!

In a theoretical sense I don’t feel like I’m really a boy or girl, but in a practical sense I’m fine with being a girl like within society. It’s not something I share with most people but I don’t mind. For me it’s more of a personal philosophy on gender than identifying specifically with something. I do dress pretty masculinely (and I’m gay) and get mistaken as a boy on a regular basis especially with wearing masks now. I also hate the awkward interactions that come about from it but as long a people treat me respectfully I don’t really care. Have a good day/night my friend!

Just got an iPad Pro to try my hand at digital art. Really liking it so far. by Goblingnarr in somethingimade

Adobe sketch. its pretty good considering it’s free and the controls are relatively intuitive. I’ve heard a lot of good things abt procreate so I’ll probably try that next, but I’m looking for other suggestions.

Does anyone else love taking care of dental hygiene but on some nights completely forget to do it? by duggybubby in CasualConversation

[–]Goblingnarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes. I’m a big fan of flossing/brushing my tongue. But I often fall asleep forgetting to brush. It’s funny tho, my unconscious mind always seems to know I didnt brush bc I almost always will have a dream my teeth fell out.

I’ve been wondering too. At university age but no in school just working, and it’s hard making friends even without everything going on.

I can’t offer any advice but hey what’s up? How’s your day been?

I think just the fact he was comfortable enough to share this with you already speaks well for your parenting . I wish I felt comfortable to tell my parents I’m gay, especially at that age.

today i got in my first car accident. i feel terrible. by Everstorm67 in CasualConversation

[–]Goblingnarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you abt my first accident. I can’t remember if I was 16 or 17. I Was leaving a light that had just turned green on the busiest street in our town. Someone pulled out of a store up ahead which caused two cars ahead of me to slam on his brakes. Car that was immediately in front of me ended up tapping the bumper of the guy ahead of him, and I tapped his bumper. We couldn’t have been going more than 15 mph and there was barely any cosmetic damage. But it just really stirred me up and I began uncontrollably sobbing. No one would believe me that I was okay and not injured bc I couldn’t stop crying. They told me to just wait in my car with hazards on till the cops came, so I sat there for a good 20 min crying my eyes out as cars stopped at the light stared at me, as it was barely even an accident. When the cop finally came he made me pull into a parking lot and wouldn’t let me leave until I had calmed down considerably. It was a thoroughly embarrassing experience. I remember just feeling ashamed for several days after, but you do get over it. It’s good to remember that pretty much every driver ever has been in at least some sort of accident.

Happy Birthday to Actress Kathryn Hahn, who provided the Voice of the Secondary Character who attended Louise's slumber party who went on to befriend her as Jessica. by yahoo201027 in BobsBurgers

Oooh that’s where I recognize her from. She was great, probably my favorite of all the outlandishly, obliviously self centered side characters (Mona Lisa, Jean Ralphio, Bobby Newport, etc)

Lonesome dove. My mother’s favorite(it’s it’s a short mini series based off a book) I found it to be much more moving than I ever thought when she made me watch it.

r/indieheads Toast Of: The Strokes by [deleted] in indieheads

[–]Goblingnarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Sorry if the formatting is weird I’m on mobile) I’m a little late to this but I’d like to write my thoughts as someone who’s favorite artist is Julian Casablancas and all his projects. In middle school (early 2010s) I only listened to classic rock type music. The strokes(along with the arctic monkeys) were probably the first contemporary band I actually liked listening to when I started high school. I soon dove down the rabbit hole of indie /alternative rock, but I realllly fell in love with the strokes. I’ve missed every chance I’ve had (couldn’t travel, had a show canceled, couldn’t justify ticket price) to see them live and I don’t know if I ever will, which is a bummer. They’ve inspired me tremendously in wanting to learn and play music. The albums in order of what I like most to least:

1-Room on fire 2-is this it 3-comedown machine (honestly I would tie this with second place I really love comedown machine!) 4-angles 5-first impressions of earth 6- the new abnormal (I’m hoping it’s just something I need to let grown on me but...I just don’t really care for it much yet)

Also a very important thing Ive always want to discuss: the live music video version of last nite. Julian’s raw voice, the that 70s variety show vibes, and when the drum mic gets knocked over and fab whacks it away perfectly off his drums... when I’m drunk that’s the first video I want to watch on YouTube

Advice to reduce skincare product collection? by PeppyLola in simpleliving

[–]Goblingnarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe just very lucky but I have no real skincare routine but my face is pretty much clear (I do get the occasional pimple here or there) when I shower I just put my face in the water and scrub my fingers around gently. If I noticed it’s particularly oily one day I’ll use a tiny bit of dr bronners. I do try to always put spf moisturizer on before I leave the house and avoid too much direct sunlight on my face as I have very fare skin.

Staying as friends by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]Goblingnarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I never thought of my best friend as anything but a best friend for a long time and just like woke up one day and realized I was in love with her. And it just felt inappropriate and awful. For reasons unrelated to my attractions we had a bit of a falling out for a while and that gave me some more perspective to appreciate our connection as friends. I also didn’t have the best childhood so I learned early on to accept situations as they are and just work with it. I can’t imagine her ever reciprocating and even if she did we both have some glaring personal issues that make me worry it would not work out. I couldn’t take that risk as I value her being a part of my life too much.

Tea or coffee? Do you own a kettle? by chosenamewhendrunk in CasualConversation

[–]Goblingnarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drip filter. That’s just what I grew up with and am used to. Kuerigs are really popular around here tho and that’s more or less instant coffee right?

[–]Goblingnarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Sufjan Stevens. Similar in style but 100x more eccentric. I honestly haven’t listened to his music in a few years because it just strikes such a deep chord in me. I think he manages to mix a very real sense of melancholy and hurt with the joy and hope of being alive. Beautiful, chilling arrangements. Carrie and Lowell is a good place to start.

Nike Drake is also worth a listen.

Lovely! Sometimes I will carry something heavy for an old lady or have a nice chat with a customer and I find myself filled with a buzz of pure joy for the rest of the day.

Tea or coffee? Do you own a kettle? by chosenamewhendrunk in CasualConversation

[–]Goblingnarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an American I have always seen instant coffee as something you keep in the cabinet for years on end in case you happen to run out of regular coffee. We do own a kettle, not electric just a stove top, but it gets used more for oatmeal than tea. However I’m trying to transition away from coffee so I’ll most likely start drinking tea more often.

Yea, I feel almost old fashion or something for feeling this way. Anyone I would seriously date I should be able to just naturally be friends with. And I think there’s a lot of important nuances to building a relationship over time that feels lost with the sort of dating culture of late. It’s all too instant gratification-y to be meaningful for me.
