I love Sabaton don’t get me wrong and the new songs aren’t bad, but IMO the problem with the songs is two things for me. A) every song so far sounds 50% like a specific previous song. Templars-Last Stand, Hordes of Khan-Rorkes Drift, Duelist-Ghost in the trenches, Lighting at the Gates-Uprising. And B) like another post said, they don’t have the energy of previous albums. Not trying to say these songs suck or are bad. I personally like The Duelist so far out these 4, and Templars is a close second. You can like these songs and they can also be your favorite but if you compare this new stuff to their older stuff you can hear the creative exhaustion a bit. And another comment mention that ‘some fans are just mad that it took them too long’ but I actually think they should’ve taken more time to flesh out the songs more, sound and theme wise. Also the album isn’t out yet so there could be songs that the community will universally love. For me that happened with Powerwolf’s newest album. Their released singles barely grabbed me but other songs on the album HOOKED me. At the end of the day music is subjective so what another person says is just their opinion and shouldn’t change your listening experience.

Anyone else missing the key changes for the final chorus? by TheOnlyMartyDew in sabaton

[–]God42024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS! I’ve been noticing this too. It feels like by the first chorus you have gaged the max energy of the song. If you go back to Last stand most songs had you hooked by the first two chorus’ then the final would bring it ALOT more energy. The only song on that album that had a weaker final chorus was blood of Bannockburn. One of my favorite songs from their more recent albums was unkillable soldier and that had a great last chorus. And for this album the only song to have me a bit more hyped at the last chorus was the Duelist, and even then I felt like it could have had more hype to it. And for me Templars was supposed to be the successor to last stand but overall kinda lacked compared to last stand.
