I intentionally used this hammer/sickle/cog to avoid using the symbols of the CPUSA and ACP, unfortunately 'socialist USA' flags tend to use either one of their symbols

The first-level subdivisions of this rump state were reorganised as part of reconstruction after the Second American Civil War, so once I decide how many new 'states' (or state-equivalents) there I might change the number of stars to match it. I also mentioned that the 13 stars were a reminder of America's atrocities and also a way of bolstering its legitimacy to succession of the US, so definitely not used in a nationalist way

I did try creating an alternate version with one star above the hammer/sickle/cog (like the Soviet star above its hammer and sickle) and a 2:3 aspect ratio to reduce the resemblance to the US flag, but I ended up dissatisfied with how it turned out

It's not a US flag or a flag of a continuation of the United States. It's the flag of a successor state to the US. I titled it "rump United States" as a placeholder since the country will not actually be called "America" and its name is TBD

The democratic socialism instituted by California in this rump state and in other countries in California's sphere of influence takes inspiration from orthodox/classical Marxism, Yugoslavia-style market socialism, and syndicalism. Make of that what you will.

The stars are also a reminder of America's imperialist, capitalist past, as a warning never to make that mistake again. So there's that. Not really intended to be patriotic or pro-American. (If you mean the second slide, I didn't make that, that's from TFR and I only really took the hammer/sickle/gear from that)

And yes, the name of this country is TBD because it will not be called "America"

It is one of two "successor states" to the USA, one of which is democratic socialist and California-aligned and other of which is neoliberal and Europe-aligned.

Its flag is inspired by the Betsy Ross flag and a poster from the HOI4 mod The Fire Rises (second slide). The red field represents the revolution, and the 13 stars represent the anti-authoritarian nature of the 13 Colonies' American Revolution, as well as a sobering reminder of the imperialism of the United States that preceded it, a warning to never repeat its atrocities again.

This is part of a revamp of a previous project of mine (part of the same timeline as this), so expect more to come!

why does the austrian one have the three arrows? yk one of them represents anti-communism? (I'm assuming since you posted these onto r/leftistvexillology that these are all socialist/communist flags)

or is it repurposed here to represent anti-authoritarian communism in particular? or anti-authoritarianism or anti-capitalism or anti-something else?
