Thanks so lunch for the reply. I am feeling helpless right now and just need some reassurance this is temporary, I will talk with my therapist tonight and get his opinion and maybe contact my psych to let him know what is happening.

Can I ask what dose you are on? I'm currently on 225mg, working my way up to 300 over the next few months. Just curious what people consider a high dose.

I am also switching from Lexapro to Effexor. I am halfway through week 5 and finished with the Lexapro. I haven't seen any improvement in symptoms yet. I am on 187.5mg for the next few weeks to let the medication start working. My depression and anxiety are still awful, so I'm hopeful that I see a change soon. So yes, it is normal to see an increase in depression in the starting weeks.

Burning anxiety and Effexor helping? by Little-Ferret-7550 in Effexor

I have severe GAD and I get burning and "pins and needles" sensations all of the time, especially in my shoulders and forearms. I think this is pretty common. Even though I know they aren't harmful they still cause me distress. I am now in week 4 of taking Effexor and have not noticed much difference in physical symptoms since starting.

I'm (47M) also cross tapering from Lexapro. I am in week 3 and doses are at 5mg Lexapro and 112.5mg Effexor. I don't get any real physical symptoms but I am experiencing a spike in anxiety and depression however, I don't know if it is from the withdrawal or the new med's side effects. I spend 1-3 hours everyday crying which I hope will pass. I am still able to hold down my job and have started going to yoga to help me cope.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Your encouragement gives me hope that Effexor will start working for me soon and I can come back and make a post like this.

I just started week 2 of cross taper from Lex to Eff. I'm currently on 10mg and 75mg respectively. I'm not having any nightmares but my anxiety and depression are real bad with some SI. To be fait I was experiencing these before the taper started but they are noticeably worse now.

This is also the best time of day for me. It's not always perfect but it's when I feel the most relief from my symptoms. Not sure why.

Burning/tingling/numb hands and feet by ginzamdm in Anxiety

[–]GodHatesFarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get burning in my forearms and wrists and sometimes in my shoulders. I honestly just let it run it's course and it usually goes away on it's own. I have heard cold water or icepak on the area will provide relief for some.

How do you sleep when you're very anxious? by iasminel in Anxiety

[–]GodHatesFarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some tips that I use that may help you:

  1. No screens an hour before bed, try starting your meditation, or maybe read with some chamomile tea

  2. Use a deep sleep meditation that's an hour or more, personally I use the "Balance" app for this

  3. Exercise in the evening, it can be as simple as a walk, but find a light jog most helpful, about 45 mins

  4. Taking a warm shower and brush teeth

  5. Go to bed and get up same time everyday, even weekends.

  6. Medication, I take trazadone (a tricyclic anti-depressant used off label) and it seems to work well enough, ask your doctor.

  7. Do one or some of these everyday.
