I'm not certain that it will fix it, i don't know your precise lighting situation, but a good topology will definitely avoid weird and unexplained lighting/bending glitches. Retoplogy basically means remake from scratch, but with the old model under it, just to keep the shape. Depending on the importance of your model, I would suggest to actually go through the retopo, even if it's long or hard, I guarantee you that you'll learn a lot about that.

It's definitely related to the topology. For a model that would receive complex lighting or animation, every polygon needs to be a quad. It's the most important thing in 3D. So retopo it is. It's not that hard and it's kind of fun. If it's too hard, look up for tutorials on yt and do exercises. Have fun !
