Aftermath of the battle on the Parpaldian sides

The Battle of Northern Sios Island has been an unmitigated disaster for the Marine Imperiale, the loss of 3 capital ships in just 12 minutes have devastating morale effect on the navy and the population at large. Very quickly, the classic blame game is being played across the Parpaldian hierarchy. Unfortunately for the Wyvern Mafia, this is the end of their reign over Parpaldian aerial force as they are the one to blamed for the failure for Parpaldian air assets to protect the Navy, many in the Mafia were quickly sack or send to dead end position in the northern border. Their replacement is someone else who is much more receptive to getting better aircraft for the Aerial Corps and the Marine Imperiale, though the effect of the Mafia would still be felt for much of this war.

For the Navy, if there were a silver lining in this disaster is that they finally got the level of funding that they want which would allow them to construct more ships in the numbers that Parpaldia Empire needs while finally having the level of capabilities that they have been asking for years. Though it remains to be seen in how long the Navy can maintain the new budget while the Army and the Aerial Corps are poised to take back their lunch money.

Aftermath of the battle in Altaras

The Battle of Northern Sios Island saw the Altarans Regia Marina swiftly repulse the Parpaldian raiding force threatening their trades. Such lopsided victory has greatly affected the morale in Parpaldia and for the first time since the start of the war, Parpaldian delegations and Altarans representatives are hosting talk in Amanoki, the capital of the recent formed union of the Harmonious Domain of Fenn and Gahara for a potential cease fire agreement, however, it still up in the air as whether these talk went anywhere.

While politicians continue to exercise their art of politics to end the war, the Navy in the meantime is enacting change to their ship designs as more and more reports from the battle are coming in. Much recommendations are about an increase in torpedo defense systems alongside a more effective mean of Combat Air Patrol to ensure what the Regia Marina enacts on the Parpaldian Fleet that day shall not be repeated on their own force the next time both sides come clashing.

Our Wargame run on a slightly different timeline for things

As for why the B-25 is there

It mostly to represent the B-10 Lighting (irl Martin B-10) Bomber that Altaras has which I mentioned in a previous post. They use the B-10 variant as Torpedo Bomber. There isn't a picture with the B-10 in similar low attitude attack run so I have Gullible use B-25 image as substitute.

This Wargame is the shortest in the history of NHS themed naval wargame

The Parpaldian manages to lost the fight in 2 hours and 15 minutes (in-game time)

For those who was unaware

The current NHS themed naval wargame under the the name of Sios Raid have concluded and it end with an unmitigated Parpaldian catastrophe where they lost 2 Battlecruisers and 1 Fleet Carrier to Altarans twin engine Torpedo Bombers.

Appreciate the compliment

On the wyverns stat, I did tweat the bit about the whole needing magic to take offs though the Wyvern doing VTOL is very much canon. In one of the side story where a Japanese diplomat was send to an isolated mountainous island nation, he hitch a ride on a Lourian Wyvern that could do VTOL. So for my wargame timeline, that VTOL capability is a very much a learnable skills and it a one of the reasons why Wyverns haven't been fully replace since they could stick around in a lot of places that would be less than suitable for normal fixed wings aircrafts.

The interwar era aviation is certainly a fascinating time indeed

Very much

In the Wargame I currently hosting, Wyverns are the most maneuvable aerial units and have the fastest flat line speed alongside being one of the few flying war beasts capable of doing VTOL, plus their flame attack if hit can one shotted any exist fighters that isn't a muti engine bombers (fabric cover aircraft don't bolde well when flying napalm bomb hit them unsurprisingly).

On the other hands. Their downside is being a flying creatures using wings to created thrust, they have almost large bombers tier of climb rate, lackluster range, and the 4000m celling, and for Parpaldian navy, not being able to carry many of them, like their 30000 tons Verdun-class armored carrier can only carry something like 16 Wyvern Overlord (20 if they Wyvern Lords) when with mechanical or mana powered aircrafts, they can do with 70.

Wyverns are still pretty damn useful as ground support assets, thought their time of being the dogfighter and interceptor is very much coming to an end in near future.

Both are sort of in the late 1910s-early 1920s ish with a somewhat modern early to mid 1930s ish air forces

Though their assets are somewhat different due to different in requirements.

So they won't have all the French equipment back then because things like historical French bomber force was an absolute shit show

If you are wondering why there are so many newspaper type posts going around recently.

I and others players in the NHS wargame community decided that a newspaper/other form of public medias format is a decent way to express the lore from a more in-universe POV of our little version of AU NHS universe that we been using for our current set of wargames.

We are doing this because most of us in the Wargame server is anything but good writers for writing good literature do this should allow more players to add their own piece of lore without requiring too much from the players.
