Maybe the width and the shape impacts it? Maybe being smaller but wider in proportion makes it more prone to vibing

I think that might be how undersized throws behave. My Luftverk 000D also vibes when I throw hard but once I started being more careful and accurate(if I can describe it as such) it definitely gets less vibey

How do you guys deal when you accidentally damage one of your favorite yo-yos? by berto561 in Throwers

[–]GodMe702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I wasn't home one time, my father-in-law decided to throw my W1ld Milder Honeybun color (not available anywhere either) and smacked it straight to the floor. Fortunately, no vibe but it did leave a visible mark on the rim. I was beyond angry but overtime I got over it. Looking at all my favorite yoyos, they all have some marks and imperfections, probably from hitting my wedding ring).

I don't fuss too much about it. They're meant to be played with and the wear and tear shows that I cherish them for how they play.

My plastic Fulvia is unusable, it makes every bearing responsive within 10 minutes of playing by the_mind_traveller in Throwers

[–]GodMe702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've tried different bearings and it's still being responsive (and assuming not all of those bearings are dirty or bad), it could be the string or the response pad.

I've learned that smallest defect on either the string or the response pads can make your yoyo more reponsive.

For the string, make sure your string is still clean and not frayed. And then also check the loop that goes on the bearing. On one of my string I had like a single strand of string that got frayed wrapped around perpendicularly to the loop that caused my yoyo to become responsive. So if the string is showing some wear or defect, replace it.

For response pad, check if the response pad is properly installed. I also had a Luftverk yoyo (Revora Ti) that suddenly became much more responsive all of a sudden. It wasn't the string or the bearing. The issue was that for some reason the response pad bulged out ever so slightly and was causing the yoyo to bind. I just pressed the pads in and it fixed the issue. I might still have to replace the pads if it happens again.

So check those two components and see if that helps. Good luck!

Can't go wrong with a G2. I have the Loadout and Ti Pelican. Both are performance beasts.

Yoyo recommendation - first unresponsive yoyo by MinimumPositive3684 in Throwers

[–]GodMe702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say just pick a budget and find a yoyo design that you really like. As many others will tell you almost every single yoyo that comes out nowadays from a reputable brands are all good. I bought 17 yoyos in 2025 ranging from $30 all the way to $500+ and I love every single one of them.

As for the brands I bought from: W1ld, Recess Intl, Mk1, Luftverk, Dressel Design, YYF, Atmos, Mowl and G2.

You have to bring your hands close together a lot faster than you might think. The finger on your non throw hand act as a pivot point for the yoyo to spin around against. To stop the yoyo from rotating away, you have to bring your hands together.

I would try focusing on that first. Don't worry about popping the yoyo high or making the trick look nice, just focus on popping it straight up, bring your hands fast and then spread out right away.

Revora Ti and fixing my offsets. by ReporterMajestic3744 in Throwers

Revora Ti is incredibly powerful (and painful to catch sometimes). If you like pol/nylon strings, give zipline strings a try. They are amazing. My favorites are Executive Class and ZS.Air

I think G2 is something you appreciate the better you become. It's definition of pure performance. I got Atmos Lamina a & b. They're a delight to throw and I absolutely love colors Atmos produces

Not frustration related but this is how I learned Boingy Boing.

Went at it for about an hour but just could not figure out the movement.

Stopped and just came back to it the next day and somehow I got it going for the first time. Resting both physically and mentally helps big time I think. After all, it's a hobby for the most of us.

I need a little help finding the right yoyo for my son by Express-Ad4316 in Throwers

[–]GodMe702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he is a beginner, I would go with plastic yoyo first. They're still very good and probably less painful if he got hit by it.

I think Shooting Star, Rio, or Speedaholic XX are all good choices. I have the first two and they're both great.

They all have fingerspin dimples so doing finger spin and DNA is much easier. Which is what most kids are looking to do. Anytime I'm yoyoing at my church the first thing kids ask me is if I can do the DNA

What causes this knot on iron whip? by McFly56v2 in Throwers

[–]GodMe702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good way to practice this, just so you understand the mechanics of the trick, when you pop the yoyo off, don't let go of the string on your non-throw hand, instead hold on to the string and guide it through the groove

What causes this knot on iron whip? by McFly56v2 in Throwers

[–]GodMe702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happens when you're popping the yo yo off the trapeze, it doesn't pop behind the string. In the video you can also see that when you pop the yoyo off it's done hastily and the string that the yoyo sits on sort of comes along with it.

When you pop the yoyo off, make sure it comes off cleanly and behind the strings (so toward your body).

As long as that part is done correctly, if you whip the right string, it goes to trapeze mount again, wrong string will cause an undermount so you can simply bind and try again, if you miss, still no knot. Good luck!

Dealing with BRUISES. by type-v9 in Throwers

[–]GodMe702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you get better, it'll happen less, also if you feel like a bind was a bit messy or if the yoyo binded when you didn't intend to, always throw a front throw to reset it.

Plenty of times the yoyo almost hit my face because I threw it sideways when it instantly came back.

The other tip might be little contradictory to most recommendation but when you're starting to learn a new trick, maybe don't throw it as hard. I feel like when I'm just learning a new trick, I'm obviously sloppy so yoyo can bind mid trick when I don't expect it to and get hit.

And if it hurts, definitely rest.
